VMI rallies, knocks off Coastal Carolina, 10-9
The VMI Keydets jumped out to a 8-1 lead, rallied late to force extra innings and then saw a dropped fly ball by Coastal Carolina Chanticleer outfielder Alex Buccilli allow the winning run to score in the 10th inning as the Keydets prevailed, 10-9, in a back and forth battle Saturday at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va. The game was the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader and marked the 250th career victory for VMI head coach Marlin Ikenberry.
VMI falls to Coastal Carolina, 3-2
An epic back and forth contest ended with trickery and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers survived a VMI Keydet rally in the 12th to escape with a 3-2 win Friday, in the opener of a three-game Big South series at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va.
VMi winning streak comes to an end at Coastal, 72-47
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers used a 12-2 run midway through the second half to break open a four-point game, and went on to defeat the VMI Keydets 72-49 in Big South basketball action Saturday afternoon at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. With the setback, VMI’s five-game winning streak comes to an end as the Keydets (9-8, 4-1 Big South) suffer their first conference loss of the season.
