#21 UVa. makes it two in a row against Georgia Tech
The No. 21 Virginia baseball team won its 10th-consecutive game Saturday, downing Georgia Tech, 4-2, at Davenport Field. Virginia (34-14-1, 16-10 ACC) won its seventh-straight ACC contest and clinched its third-consecutive ACC series victory.
Pitching ruled the day on both sides, with each team finishing with just six hits. Virginia’s bullpen tossed five scoreless innings and ran its ACC scoreless innings streak to 37.2 straight innings. Read more
#21 Cavs dig long ball, nip Jackets
Brandon Downes (Fr., South Plainfield, N.J.) singled home Jared King (R-Jr., Radford, Va.) with one out in the eighth inning to lift the No. 21 Virginia baseball team to a 6-5 win over Georgia Tech Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Davenport Field. Virginia (33-14-1, 15-10 ACC) notched its ninth-consecutive win, including its sixth straight in ACC play, and in doing so clinched a berth in the 2012 ACC Baseball Championship, slated for May 23-27 in Greensboro, N.C.
Half of Virginia’s eight hits came via home runs. The Cavaliers’ four home runs were most by a Virginia team since May 1, 2010, when UVa hit four at Duke, and it was the most home runs by the Cavaliers at Davenport Field since March 3, 2002, when UVa hit four against Seton Hall. Read more
#21 UVa. blows past High Point, 12-3
The No. 21 Virginia baseball team shook off the rust of an eight-day layoff for final exams by rolling to a 12-3 victory over High Point Wednesday evening at a soggy Davenport Field.
The win extended Virginia’s winning streak to a season-high eight games. UVa (32-14-1) posted a four-run third inning and a six-run seventh inning in a game which started one hour, 57 minutes late because of rain. Read more

AFP designed a new website – www.bowerkeenan.com - for the company, formerly the Albemarle Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
AFP also developed a new corporate logo for Drs. Bower, Keenan & Associates that is highlighted on the website and will be used in other marketing for the company.
Veterans for Peace forming Charlottesville chapter
Veterans For Peace, an international organization dedicated to helping veterans heal and abolishing warfare established in 1985, is proud to announce that Central Virginia will soon be home to a new chapter, in a renewed effort by local veterans in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area to organize veterans.
According to Iraq war veteran and college-student Evan Knappenberger of Charlottesville, the timing for a new chapter of Veterans For Peace couldn’t be better. “It’s never too early (or to late) to proclaim the good news of peace. Fifty-three University of Virginia Health System physicians from 28 specialties are featured in the new edition of America’s Top Doctors® (11th Edition), which honors the top 1 percent of specialists and sub-specialists in the U.S. UVA also had 20 physicians selected for a companion publication, America’s Top Doctors for Cancer (7th Edition).
Published annually by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the guides are based on nominations from tens of thousands of doctors and healthcare executives across the country. Festival announces statewide high-school film competition
The Virginia Film Festival announced today that it is expanding its acclaimed Community Outreach and Education programs to include a new high school filmmaking competition.
The Virginia Film Festival is presented by the University of Virginia’s College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
Action! The Virginia Film Festival’s High School Director Competition will welcome submissions from rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders from throughout the Commonwealth. The Grand Prize winner for the competition will be awarded a check for $1,000 Each of two runners-up in the competition will be awarded $500. All three winning films will receive a special screening at the upcoming 25th Anniversary Virginia Film Festival, scheduled to take place from November 1-4, 2012, along with one Participant Badge providing access to VFF screenings and the VFF Filmmakers and Sponsors Lounge.
