#12 UVa. women’s lax bests #19 Johns Hopkins
The 12th-ranked Virginia women’s lacrosse team won a road contest at No. 19 Johns Hopkins, 11-7, Wednesday (April 11) at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. Senior attacker Josie Owen (Gibson Island,Md.) scored four goals and added two assists to lead Virginia with a six-point effort, while junior goalkeeper Kim Kolarik (Riva, Md.) registered eight saves.
The win was Virginia’s sixth victory in its last seven games and improved the Cavaliers’ record to 10-5 overall. With the loss, Johns Hopkins’ record went to 7-5. Read more
#1 UVa. men’s lax takes down #9 UNC
Nine different Cavaliers scored at least one goal to help No. 1 Virginia (10-1, 2-0 ACC) to a key league road victory over the No. 9 North Carolina Tar Heels (8-4, 1-2 ACC) on Saturday afternoon, in front of 5,138 fans at Fetzer Field. The attendance was the largest crowd to watch a lacrosse game at Fetzer Field since 1991.
With the win, UVa cinches no worse than the No. 2 seed for the ACC Tournament, hosted by the Cavaliers on April 20 and 22. Friday’s home game with Duke will determine the league tournament’s No. 1 seed. Read more
Virginia Tech women’s lax scores first-ever victory over UVa.
The seventh-ranked Virginia women’s lacrosse team dropped an overtime contest, 10-9, at Virginia Tech on Saturday (April 7). Senior attacker Josie Owen (Gibson Island, Md.) scored four goals, including the 100th of her career, to lead the Cavaliers.
Virginia’s record went to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. With their first-ever win over UVa in women’s lacrosse, the Hokies improved to 8-5 overall, 1-3 in league play and 1-17 all-time vs. the Cavaliers. Read more
Virginia tops Harvard
The No. 9 Virginia women’s lacrosse team extended its winning streak to five games with a 12-6 victory over Harvard on Monday (April 2) at Klöckner Stadium. Virginia finished its regular-season home schedule with a 7-1 record on its home field.
Overall, UVa improved to 9-4, matching its win total from the 2011 season. The Cavaliers are 2-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play with one league game remaining at Virginia Tech on Saturday (April 7). Read more
#9 UVa. women’s lax holds off ODU
No. 9 Virginia held off a late Old Dominion rally and earned a 14-13 victory in women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday (March 28) night at Klöckner Stadium.
The victory was the Cavaliers’ third-consecutive win and improved UVa’s overall record to 7-4 on the season. Old Dominion’s record went to 3-7 overall. The game’s start time was delayed one hour and 25 minutes due to severe weather in the Charlottesville area. Read more
#2 Johns Hopkins stuns #1 UVa. in OT
Three overtime turnovers by the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers (8-1) set the table for the No. 2 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (8-0) to walk out of Klöckner Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the victory, 11-10, in front of 6,899 fans. The UVa loss snapped a 14-game winning streak inside Klöckner Stadium, the longest current streak in the nation. It also broke UVa’s 13-game winning streak, which was tops in the nation. UVa’s senior class is now 27-2 all-time inside Klöckner Stadium. Read more

The 12th-ranked Virginia women’s lacrosse team earned a 14-12 victory at sixth-ranked Duke on Saturday (March 24) at Koskinen Stadium.
The victory, UVa’s second-consecutive, improved the Cavaliers’ record to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The loss was Duke’s first league setback of the year as the Blue Devils fell to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. Read more
