Ruth Arnold, director of the Staunton Public Library, was presented with the Elizabeth M. “Libby” Lewis Award at a recent meeting of the Virginia Public Library Directors Association.
The award is named for the former director of the library development and networking division of the Library of Virginia and is given annually by the VPLDA to a Virginia public library director who exhibits an enthusiasm for and a love of libraries as well as a nurturing spirit.
Library directors may nominate one of their peers for the award, and the recipient is chosen by a vote of the association’s members.
Arnold has been the director of the Staunton Public Library since October 1991 and employed by the library for more than 30 years.
