Staunton District Traffic Alerts: Sept. 5-9

vdot-logoThe following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton District during the coming weeks.

The Staunton District is comprised of 11 counties: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clarke and Warren. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY 

INTERSTATE 64

(UPDATE) Mile marker 0 to 7, eastbound and westbound – Lane closures as needed Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.for storm cleanup around culverts, drain pipes and ditches.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 0 to 41, eastbound and westbound – Lane closures for mowing operations,  Tuesday andWednesday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 0 to 41, eastbound and westbound – Shoulder repairs from mile marker 0 to 9 Tuesday throughThursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In other locations, watch for crews removing debris, trimming trees, cleaning bridge slopes and around culverts and drainage areas, Tuesday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mowing, weed-eating and litter removal, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mile marker 36 to 31, westbound – Alternating lane closures for paving operations through September 26, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.


PRIMARY ROADS

Route 159 (Dunlap Creek Road) – Traffic lanes restricted to 8 feet 6 inches on temporary bridge during roadway alignment project for box culvert replacement over Crow Run.  Project will also use temporary traffic signals. Work zone is 0.45 mile west of Route 717 to 0.55 mile west of Route 17.  Commercial vehicles can use Route 18 as an alternate route. Estimated completion fall 2016.

(NEW) Various roads – Patching with flagger traffic control.  Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

Route 687 (Jackson River Road) – Flagger controlled traffic for paving, pavement marking and guardrail work from Route 641 to the Bath County line. Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Estimated completion October 1.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Patching with flagger traffic control.  Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY                                                                                                                  

INTERSTATE 64

(UPDATE) Mile marker 41 to 57, eastbound and westbound – Lane closures as needed for mowing operations Tuesday toThursday 24 hours a day.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 41 to 57, eastbound and westbound – Be alert for crews removing debris and cleaning paved ditches and drop inlets Tuesday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and mowing, weed-eating and litter removal, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mile marker 53 to 55, eastbound and westbound – Single-lane traffic through work zone. Westbound drivers use a median crossover to access the eastbound side of the interstate. After crossing the bridge, westbound drivers follow a second crossover to return to the I-64 westbound mainline. Eastbound traffic limited to the right lane. Work zone speed limit 55 miles an hour.  Estimated project completion summer 2017.

 

INTERSTATE 81

(UPDATE) Mile marker 174 to 191, northbound and southbound – Nighttime lane closures as needed for mowing operations. Tuesday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 174 to 205, northbound and southbound – Watch for crews removing debris, cleaning paved ditches, around box culverts, drain pipes and ditches and trimming trees Tuesday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Exit 195 off ramps (Route 11/Timber Ridge) – Nighttime sign maintenance work on Thursday.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 206 to 198, southbound – Right shoulder closures for fiber optic installation, Monday to Friday. Estimated completion September 30.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

(NEW) Multiple Route 11 intersections at various times – Watch for nighttime signal and sign maintenance work at these intersections: Tuesday at College Square Shopping Center, Greenhouse Road /Frontage Road 739, Route 39. Wednesdayat Walmart Shopping Center and Lowes Home Improvement Center.

(NEW) Route 60 intersections with 608 and 1401 (Buena Vista area) at various times – Watch for nighttime signal and sign maintenance work on Thursday.

Route 60 – Daytime lane closures for bridge work over I-81 (exit 188).  Estimated completion September 15.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Paving and patching, ditching, pipe replacement, tree removal, street sweeping and pothole repairs with flagger traffic control. Mowing with a mobile operation. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 to 3 p.m.   

 

SECONDARY ROADS

Route 708 (Gilmore Mill Road) – Road closed for bridge replacement at Cedar Creek just east of Route 608 (Shafer Lane). Detour using Route 608 and Route 130 (Wert Faulkner Highway).  Estimated completion late 2016.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Paving and patching, ditching, pipe replacement, tree removal. Street sweeping, grading and pothole repairs with flagger traffic control. Mowing with mobile operation. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 to 3 p.m.   

 

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

PRIMARY ROADS

SECONDARY ROADS

(NEW) Route 600 (Back Creek Road Upper and Lower) and Route 607 (Big Valley Road) – Ditching at various locations.Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 609 (Burnsville Road) Flagger traffic control for pipe installation. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 614 (Cowpasture River Road) Flagger traffic control for pipe installation north of Route 250, grading south of Route 250. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 678 (Bullpasture River Road) Flagger traffic control for pipe installation.

AUGUSTA COUNTY  

INTERSTATE 64

(UPDATE) Mile marker 87 to 100, eastbound and westbound – Be alert for crews removing debris, trimming trees, cleaning bridge slopes, paved ditches and inlets. Tuesday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Exit 91 on- and off-ramps (Fishersville area) – Lane or shoulder closures, and eastbound left turn lane restrictions to Route 285 for pavement patching, drainage work and silt fencing removal, September 6-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 94 to 96, eastbound – Right shoulder closure for replacement of traffic management equipment.Monday to Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Estimated completion September 9.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 94 to 107, eastbound and westbound – Right shoulder closures for installation of traffic-management system. Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion September 23.

 

INTERSTATE 81

(UPDATE) Mile marker 205 to 237, northbound and southbound – Be alert for crews removing debris Tuesday to Friday. Trimming trees, cleaning paved ditches, culverts, pipes and other drainage structures at various locations. Tuesday toThursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mile marker 207 to 209 (Raphine/Greenville area), northbound – Left or right lane closures Sunday through Friday nights,8 p.m. to 7 a.m., for paving, drainage work, guardrail and rumble strip installation. Estimated completion early December.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 211.5, northbound – Overnight lane closure for bridge work, seven nights a week, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.Estimated completion September 16.   

(UPDATE) Mile marker 215 to 205, southbound – Lane closures as needed for replacement of pavement reflectors, Wednesday and Thursday, midnight to 7 a.m.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 223 to 228, southbound – Right shoulder closures Monday to Saturday for fiber optics installation. Estimated completion September 30.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 225, northbound and southbound – Overnight lane closures for bridge work, seven nights a week, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion September 16.

Various locations – Watch for overnight mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

(UPDATE) Route 11 (Lee Highway) – Shoulder closure for fiber installation from Route 781 (Bald Rock Road) to Verona Elementary School. Estimated completion September 30.

(UPDATE) Route 11 (Lee Highway) – Shoulder closure for fiber installation from Route 1920 (Sutton Road) to Staunton city limits. Estimated completion September 30.

Route 11 (Lee Jackson Highway) – Right shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures for utility work from Route 800 (Folly Mill Road) to Route 871 (Cochran’s Mill Road). Monday to Friday.  Estimated completion September 30.

Route 42 (Scenic Highway) – Right shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures for utility work from Route 254 (Buffalo Gap) to Town of Craigsville. Monday to Friday.  Estimated completion September 30.

Route 42 (Scenic Highway) – Right shoulder closures for utility work from Route 613 (Spring Hill Road) to Route 728 (Stover Shop Road). Monday to Friday.  Estimated completion September 30.

(UPDATE) Route 250 (Three Notched Mountain Highway) – Right shoulder closures for installation of traffic-management system. Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion September 23.

(UPDATE) Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) – Eastbound lane closure/lane shifts from Staunton city limits to Route 1427 (Rowe Road) for utility work. Estimated completion September 30.

Route 250 (Churchville Avenue)Shoulder closure for fiber installation from Route 722 (Vinegar Hill Road) to Route 42 (Scenic Highway). Estimated completion September 30.

Route 250 (Churchville Avenue) – Bridge replacement over Whiskey Creek, just east of intersection with Route 722 (Vinegar Hill Road). Occasional lane/shoulder closures as contractors relocate utilities and build a temporary bridge and approaches. Work zone speed limit is 25 miles an hour.  Traffic will detour onto the two-lane temporary bridge starting in early fall.

Route 254 (Parkersburg Turnpike) – Shoulder closure for fiber installation from Route 42 (Buffalo Gap) to Staunton City limits. Estimated completion September 30.

(NEW) Route 285 Alternating northbound lane closures at I-64 bridge, September 7-9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pavement patching.

(UPDATE) Route 340 – Right shoulder closures for installation of traffic-management system.  Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion September 23.

Route 340 (Main Street, Waynesboro) – Road closed  between Constitution Park and East Avenue for replacement of South River bridge. Through traffic will use Broad Street (Route 250) as detour route. Local traffic has access to all businesses and residences throughout the project. Estimated completion late 2017.

(UPDATE) Various locations – Watch for daytime signal and sign maintenance work Monday through Friday at various locations and times.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

(NEW) Route 603 (Cales Springs Road) – Road closed to through traffic for bridge deck replacement September 6 to 21. Work zone is from 1.55 mile east of Route 677 (Shermiah Road) to 0.60 mile west of Route 602 (Summerdean Road). Detour from the west side of bridge: Turn south onto Route 602, then east onto Route 677 and then back to Route 603.  Detour from east side of bridge: Turn west on Route 677, then north onto Route 602, and then back to Route 603.

Route 612 at Route 792 (Laurel Hill Road/Indian Mound Road, Verona) – Lane closures with flagger traffic control are possible Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During other times, motorists should be alert for shoulder closures and construction vehicles moving in and out of the work zone.  Estimated completion spring 2017.

(UPDATE) Route 624 (South Delphine Avenue) – Right shoulder closures for installation of traffic-management system.  Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion September 23.

(NEW) Route 640 (Goose Creek Road) – Westbound shoulder closure just east of Route 285 for ditch work and silt fencing removal, September 7-10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 641 (Fishersville Road) – Intermittent lane and shoulder closures from Route 608 (Long Meadow Road) to Route 1360 (Westminster Drive) for water line upgrades. Monday to Friday. Estimated completion fall 2016.

Route 685 (Lehigh Road, Craigsville) – Road closed for bridge replacement over Little Calfpasture River between Route 684 and Route 42. Detour in place. Estimated completion late 2016.

(UPDATE) Various locations – Watch for daytime signal maintenance work Monday through Friday at various locations and times.

Various roads – Utility tree trimming.  Flagger control during daylight hours. Monday to Friday.

 

 

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY 

INTERSTATE 81

(UPDATE) Mile marker 237 to 264, northbound and southbound – Watch for crews removing debris, performing mile marker sign maintenance, and hand mowing around signs and concrete ditches. Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pothole repairs as needed.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 242, northbound and southbound – Overnight lane closures for bridge work, seven nights a week, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Estimated completion September 16.

(NEW) Mile marker 245, northbound and southbound – Overnight lane closures for bridge work, seven nights a week, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Estimated completion September 30.

(NEW) Various locations – Watch for overnight mobile lane closures for line painting beginning September 6.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 11 (Lee Highway) – Replacement of North River bridge. Watch for traffic shifts, shoulder closures and flagger controlled lane closures, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Work zone from Route 694 to one mile south of Mount Crawford. Variable message boards and pavement markings direct motorists. Estimated completion July 2017.

Route 253 (Port Republic Road) – Periodic flagging as part of intersection improvements at Route 340 (East Side Highway). Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Estimated completion fall 2016.

Route 340 (East Side Highway) – Periodic flagging as part of intersection improvements at Route 253/659  (Port Republic Road). Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Estimated completion fall 2016.

Various locations – Watch for daytime mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

(NEW) Route 602 (East Point Road) – Single lane closure as needed for utility maintenance between Route 33 and Route 646. September 6 to September 30.

Route 641 (Cave Hill Road) Road closed near McGaheysville between Route 991 (Jacob Burner Road) and Route 843 (Cemetery Road) for Stony Run bridge replacement. Temporary bridge serves as 24/7 detour with a stop-and-proceed work zone in place. Estimated completion is mid-October.

Route 659 (Port Republic Road) – Periodic flagging as part of intersection improvements at Route 340. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Estimated completion fall 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 704 (Cecil Wampler Road) – Flagger controlled, intermittent right shoulder and lane closures for installation of water lines. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work zone between I-81 and Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road).  Estimated completion September 30.

Various locations – Watch for daytime mobile lane closures for line painting.

Various roads – Utility tree trimming.  Flagger control during daylight hours. Monday to Friday.

 

 

PAGE COUNTY

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 340 – Intermittent flagging operations for replacement of bridge and approaches at Cub Run. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work zone speed limit is 45 miles per hour. Estimated completion September 2017.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

Various roads – Pavement patching and mowing at various locations. Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 3 p.m.  Estimated completion September 30.

 

 

SHENANDOAH COUNTY

INTERSTATE 81

(UPDATE) Mile Marker 264, northbound and southbound – Nighttime single lane closures Monday through Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., for bridge work over Route 211. Estimated completion September 16.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 264 to 300, northbound and southbound – Watch for crews removing debris and repairing fences.  Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Pothole repairs as needed.

(NEW) Mile marker 279, northbound and southbound – Nighttime, alternating lane closures for maintenance on bridges over Route 185 and Stoney Creek in Edinburg area.  Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion October 16.

Mile marker 287 to 283, southbound – Nightly lane closures for  guardrail replacement.  Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion September 16.

Mile marker 292 to 296, northbound – Nightly lane closures for guardrail replacement.  Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion September 16.

Mile marker 293, northbound and southbound – Alternating shoulder closures for bridge repairs on I-81 bridges over Route 601 (Battlefield Road).  Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Estimated completion September 30.

Mile marker 298 to 292, southbound – Nightly lane closures for milling, paving and pavement marking. Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion September 16.

(NEW) Various locations – Watch for overnight mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

(NEW) Route 185 (Stoney Creek Road) – Flagger controlled lane and shoulder closures as needed for maintenance on I-81 overpass bridges.  Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion October 16.

(NEW) Route 292 (Mount Jackson Road) – Watch for traffic lane shifts just west of Route 11 for railroad crossing repairs. September 7-8.

Various locations – Watch for daytime mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

Queen Street (Route 1201, Town of Strasburg) – Road closed between South Massanutten Street and Holiday Street for bridge replacement over Town Run. Detour in place. Estimated completion November 2016.

Route 601 (Battlefield Road) – Flagger controlled lane closures as needed for bridge repair work on I-81 overpass bridges.  Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Estimated completion September 30.

Route 663 (Artz Road) Bridge replacement over the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. The road will remain open during construction of the new bridge, with flagger controlled traffic 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Estimated completion May 2018.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Utility tree trimming.  Flagger control during daylight hours. Tuesday noon through Friday.

Various locations – Watch for daytime mobile lane closures for line painting.

FREDERICK COUNTY

INTERSTATE 66

No lane closures reported.

 

INTERSTATE 81

(UPDATE) Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound – Contractor mowing, Tuesday through Sunday.  Watch for crews removing debris Tuesday and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pothole repairs as needed.

Mile marker 309 to 312, northbound and southbound Right and left shoulder closed 24/7. Speed limit 60 mph through work zone.  Motorists should be alert for trucks entering and exiting work zone. Estimated project completion May 2018.

Various locations – Watch for overnight mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

(UPDATE) Route 37 (Northwestern Pike/City of Winchester) – Right shoulder closures 0.74 miles south of the ramp to Northwestern Pike (Route 50) for replacement of traffic management equipment. Nightly, Monday to Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Estimated completion September 9.

Route 37 at I-81 Exit 310 (Kernstown Interchange Project), northbound and southbound Speed limit on Route 37 reduced to 35 mph through work zone. Newly built portion of Route 37 is open. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern change at intersection with Route 642 (Tasker Road). Estimated project completion May 2018.

(UPDATE) Route 522 (North Frederick Pike/Cross Junction) – Right shoulder closures 0.19 miles north of Route 682 (Chapel Hill Road) for replacement of traffic management equipment. Nightly, Monday to Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Estimated completion September 9.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

(NEW) Various locations – Flagger controlled traffic for surface treatment operations Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the following locations:  Route 610 (Muse Road) from state line to Route 707 West (Hollow Road); Route 701(Redland Road) from Route 771 (Red Oak Road) to Route 703 (Whitacre Road); Route 703 (Whitacre Road) from Route 50 (Northwestern Pike) to Route 701 (Redland Road); Route 855 (Harrison Lane) from Route 644 (Papermill Road) to the dead end. Estimated completion September 9.

(UPDATE) Route 604 (Star Tannery Road) – Road closed for bridge replacement, from 0.65 miles south of Route 55 (John Marshall Highway) to 0.46 miles north of Route 603 (Brill Road). Residents will have access to their properties. Through traffic will use these detours:  Northbound traffic will travel west on Route 603 (Brill Road), north on Route 600 (Pifer Road), then east on Route 55 (John Marshall Highway) to the end of detour.  Southbound traffic will travel west on Route 55 (John Marshall Highway), south on Route 600 (Pifer Road), then east on Route 603 (Brill Road) to the end of detour.  Estimated completion September 9.

Route 642 (Tasker Road, Kernstown Interchange Project) – The speed limit on Route 642 is 45 miles per hour through the work zone. The newly built portion of Route 642 is now open.  Motorists should be alert for traffic pattern changes at intersections with Route 37 and Route 847 (Hillandale).  Estimated project completion May 2018.

Route 847 (Hillandale Lane, Kernstown Interchange Project) – Newly built portion of Route 847 is open. Motorists should be alert for traffic pattern changes at intersection with Route 642 (Tasker Road). Estimated project completion May 2018.

Various locations – Flagger controlled traffic for crack seal and paving operations Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the following locations:  Valley Mill Estates (Route 1285), Millrace Estates (Routes 1270, 1271, 1272, 1273 and 1274), Hill Valley (Routes 1283 and 1284),  Merriman Estates (Routes 1303, 1304, 1305, 1306 and 1307), Westside Station (Routes 1338 and 1339).  Estimated completion date September 30, 2016.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Utility tree trimming. Flagger control during daylight hours. Tuesday noon through Friday.

(UPDATE) Route 615 (Boom Road, Berryville) – Alternating right shoulder closure and flagger controlled lane closure as needed for bridge repairs at Route 7 overpass. Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Estimated completion October 16.

 

 

WARREN COUNTY

INTERSTATE 66

(UPDATE) Mile marker 0 to 15, westbound and eastbound – Contractor mowing Tuesday through Sunday.  Watch for crews removing debris and repairing fences Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Pothole repairs as needed.

 

INTERSTATE 81

Various locations – Watch for overnight mobile lane closures for line painting.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 55 (Strasburg Road) – Intersection modification at Route 340/522 (Shenandoah Avenue/Winchester Road).  Lane closures as needed Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly. Temporary traffic signal at 55/340/522 intersection. Temporary traffic switch for east and west lanes from 340/522 to .03 miles (A. S. Rhodes Elementary School) west of 340/522. Pavement markings, signs and traffic barrels will guide drivers through this area. Changes in effect through summer 2017 for construction of new travel lanes. Estimated project completion December 2017.

Route 340/522 (Shenandoah Avenue/Winchester Road) – South Fork bridge replacement and intersection modification at Route 55 (Strasburg Road).  Lane closures as needed Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly.  Lane shift at 17th street and temporary traffic signal at 340/522/55 intersection, placing all traffic on the newly constructed bridge. 18th street is open to traffic, with left turn restrictions until summer 2017.  Demolition of old South Fork bridge and construction of new bridge continues. Estimated project completion December 2017.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

(UPDATE) Various routes – Flagger controlled traffic for surface treatment, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Route 602(Moore Road) from Route 604 (Harmony Hollow Road) to Route 724 (4H Center Drive); Route 604 (Harmony Hollow Road) from Route 600 (Hickerson Hollow Road) to Route 522 (Remount Road); Route 606 (Shenandoah Shores Road) from Front Royal town limits to Riverview Shores Drive; Route 624 (Morgan Ford Road /Milldale Road) from 0.1 mile north of Morgan Ford Bridge to Clarke county line; Route 639 (Ashby Station Road) from Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) to Route 658 (Rockland Road); Route 643 (Howellsville Road) from Route 624 (Morgan Ford Road) to Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road); Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) from Route 55 (John Marshall Highway) to Route 624 (Happy Creek Road); Route 656 (Loop Road) from south of Front Royal town limits to one mile east of Front Royal town limits;Route 661 (Fairground Road) from Route 643 (Morgan Ford Road/Milldale Road) to Route 702 (Bering Drive); Route 671(Harmony Orchard Road) from Route 604 (Harmony Hollow Road) to dead end. Estimated completion September 16.

Route 624 (Morgan Ford Road) – Road closed for bridge replacement over the Shenandoah River. Work zone from Route 643 (Howellsville Road) to Route 661 (Fairground Road).  Detours:  Drivers south of the bridge will turn right on Route 643 (Howellsville Road), which changes to Route 603 and then to Route 638 in Clarke County. Drivers will then turn left on Route 17/50 (John Mosby Highway) and left on Route 624 (Red Gate Road/Milldale Road) to reach the end of the detour. Drivers north of the bridge will follow Route 624 (Milldale Road/Red Gate Road) north and turn right on Route 17/50 (John Mosby Highway) in Clarke County. Drivers will then turn right on Route 638 (Howellsville Road), which changes to Route 603 and then Route 643, to reach the end of the detour.  Estimated project completion June 2018.

Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Crews expanding Linden Park & Ride lot. Watch for increased truck traffic and intermittent flagging operations for excavation work, stone placement and paving operations. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion October 2016.

(UPDATE) Various roads – Utility tree trimming. Flagger control during daylight hours. Tuesday noon through Friday.

Various roads – Mowing and patching. Monday to Friday.

 

Vegetation management may take place district wide on various routes. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
