staunton2editsThe Staunton Public Works Department will again this year provide a citywide free heavy trash pickup program. The aim is to help residents dispose of items that cannot be disposed of by the normal refuse pickup.

The heavy trash/brush pickup, which is scheduled for the week of April 15-19, will be limited to household items and yard trimmings. Excluded from the pickup are hazardous waste, car batteries, oil based paint, pesticides, stumps, rocks, concrete, old vehicles, large brush, building material and tires.

Residents wishing to take advantage of this service must place items streetside no later than 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 15.

Staunton’s Clean City Committee is also sponsoring a special tire disposal program again this year.  On Saturday, April 20, 2013, between the hours of 9:00AM – 4:00PM, tires can be delivered to the Gypsy Hill Park Football Stadium Parking Lot.  Tires must be car/pickup size only, be off the rim, and there is a limit of 4 per household.  There will be no curbside pickup of tires; tires must be delivered to the drop off site.
