Spanish film festival comes to Bridgewater College

film2Bridgewater College will present a Spanish film festival Jan. 27 – Feb. 1. All films are subtitled in English and will be shown at 7 p.m. in Cole Hall.

Pa Negre (Black Bread) will be shown on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Set in the harsh post-war years, Black Breadfollows the story of a young boy developing a moral consciousness against a world of adults fed by lies.

La Isla Interior (The Island Inside) will be presented on Friday, Jan. 30. This film is the story of three siblings who are fighting the inherited curse of schizophrenia.

Amerikanuak will be the feature on Sunday, Feb. 1. It is a documentary featuring Basques who left Spain in search of a better life and became sheepherders in the American West.

Free and open to the public, the films are sponsored by Bridgewater’s Center for International Education.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
