The plant officially opened yesterday with a small ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, Todd P. Haymore, Augusta County Economic Development representatives, Shamrock Farms leadership, plant employees, key vendors and local farmers.

Shamrock Farms stands for Real.Fresh.Ideas., which means a commitment to innovation and to providing authentic, high-quality milk products,” said Kent McClelland, who is the third-generation of McClelland family leadership. “We’re thrilled to officially be a part of the Augusta County community; this is a key milestone in our company’s more than 90 year history.”

Shamrock sources its milk locally with the Maryland Virginia Dairy Co Op, which upholds the same purity and freshness standards, sustainable farming practices and superior milk quality as Shamrock Farms requires for its flagship farm in Arizona. The facility will produce Shamrock Farms on the go mmmmilk and Rockin’ Refuel protein fortified milk beverages.

Additional key features of the new Shamrock Farms plant include:

  • Built on a 40-acre parcel of land
  • The building is 190,000 square feet with room for expansion
  • Construction took only 13 months to complete
  • Plant features the latest in extended shelf life (ESL) technology, which allows milk to stay fresher, longer
  • Boasts many sustainability features designed to promote energy conservation and water stewardship

Shamrock Farms has a longstanding commitment to its employees and the local community. The Augusta County plant currently employs more than 50 people, and Shamrock Farms looks forward to continuing to become part of in the community through working with local athletic programs and participating in community events and hunger-related causes.
