virginia-newThe Chesapeake Bay Program announced that Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has been named chair of its Chesapeake Executive Council. Beginning in 2015 McAuliffe will lead the council, which is responsible for guiding the CBP’s policy agenda and setting conservation and restoration goals.

Statement from Rick Parrish, Senior Attorney at Southern Environmental Law Center:

SELC is delighted to learn that Governor McAuliffe has been appointed to serve as chair of the Chesapeake Bay Program Executive Council for the coming year. Governor McAuliffe recognizes the vital role the Bay plays in Virginia’s environment and economy, and he has been very supportive of the goals to reduce the Bay’s pollution and improve water quality. We look forward to his continued leadership in working to restore the health of the Chesapeake Bay.”
