The Salem Red Sox capped off a series victory against the Frederick Keys with a 1-0 walk-off win Sunday afternoon at LewisGale Field. Salem concludes its season series with Frederick having won 13 of 21 contests.

Jordan Procyshen doubled off the wall in right field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to score pinch-runner Bryan Hudson with the winning tally.

The contest was dominated by pitching early as starting pitchers Daniel McGrath of the Red Sox and Mitch Horacek of the Keys kept the offense on its heels.

Coming off a rough start his last time out at Potomac, McGrath was brilliant in six scoreless innings for Salem (83-49, 40-23) on Sunday. The Australian southpaw scattered four hits and struck out four while recording his ninth quality start of the season.

Frederick (66-67, 30-33) had their best opportunity to score against McGrath in the first inning when they loaded the bases with two outs, but Yermin Mercedes flew out to left field to end the threat.

The Red Sox collected just six hits against Horacek in 6.2 innings. With Jose Sermo at third base and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, he was replaced by Ryan Meisinger, who coaxed a groundout from Jordan Betts to keep the game scoreless.

After Salem reliever Jake Cosart tossed a perfect seventh, Frederick put runners on first and second with one out in the top of the eighth. Cosart was able to induce two infield pop-ups to escape the jam. Jamie Callahan (5-3) tossed a perfect ninth inning out of the bullpen.

Meisinger (3-2) was still on in the bottom of the ninth when Salem put runners on first and second with one out after a walk, fielder’s choice and infield single. Sermo struck out for the second out, but Procyshen came through with the walk-off double.

The win was Salem’s ninth walk-off win of the season, and was the club’s 22nd victory in its last at bat. The Red Sox have won 13 of their last 14 games at LewisGale Field.

The Red Sox enjoy an off day Monday before beginning a three-game series with the Winston-Salem Dash Tuesday night at LewisGale Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. LHP Matt Kent (10-6, 3.78) will take the mound for Salem in the opener, opposite RHP Jordan Stephens (6-10, 3.71) of Winston-Salem.
