Route 20 paving continues next week: VDOT taking steps to reduce delays

Contributors

road-work-headerThe Virginia Department of Transportation has made adjustments to reduce delays on Route 20 (Scottsville Road) in Albemarle County as paving operations continue next week.

Work will occur from just north of Route 6 (Irish Road) to Route 708 (Red Hill Road), with the roadway limited to one lane through the work zone. Shorter segments of roadway will be paved at a time to minimize impacts to traffic, which will be controlled by flaggers.

Paving will begin at 7:30 a.m. daily, Monday through Friday. VDOT’s contractor plans to complete work by 3 p.m. each day, with the roadway fully reopened to motorists at about 4 p.m., once the latex sealant has cured.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible.

Roads scheduled for paving statewide can be viewed at www.virginiaroads.org. Culpeper District-specific information is at www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/paving2015.asp.
