sam rasoulDel. Sam Rasoul has chosen the Roanoke Technical Education Center (ROTEC) as the first recipient of a charitable donation in fulfillment of his campaign pledge to donate half of his General Assembly salary to local organizations.

Delegate Rasoul’s donation will go toward a scholarship program for students.  He looks forward to continuing to fulfill his campaign promise by donating to other Roanoke charities, which he hopes will encourage philanthropy among other residents of the district.

ROTEC works collaboratively to provide quality career and technical education.  The organization strives to give students the knowledge to be excellent employees in terms of both skill and attitude. Some of their achievements over the past year include:

  • Over 4400 students took a Career & Technical Education (CTE) class through Roanoke City Schools
  • The graduation rate for two-year CTE completers rose from 93.97% to 96.36%
  • Industry certifications grew from 588 to 663 students
Regarding his campaign promise, Rasoul said “I want to encourage everyone to explore the many worthy organizations doing incredible work around the Roanoke Valley.  There are plenty of ways to help out, whether monetarily or through volunteering.  Together, we can help our community achieve even bigger and brighter things.”
