River City Radio Hour Remembers Christmas

christmas-radio-hourThe Wayne Theatre Alliance will present its 2015 special The Radio Hour Remembers Christmas on Friday and Saturday, December 18 and 19 in the Fellowship Hall of the Main Street United Methodist Church.

The 7:30 pm performances will combine music, comedy, and drama to lift the holiday spirits to a new level.  Lead by Richard Adams and the Boogie Kings, the all-star evening will feature Lorie Strother, Kevin Chisnell, Brant Fife, Marsh Howard, Barbara Lawson, and Robert Young (aka Duffy).  Included in the evening is a new Basic City Boys Christmas and Christmas in Fox Hollow, an original musical by Boomie Pedersen and Richard Adams

“This is the sixth Christmas special for the Radio Hour,” said Clair Myers, producer. “This year’s celebration is truly packed with music, drama and comedy.  We have some of the best talents in the Valley joining together to bring holiday favorites as well as new tunes and stories that are likely to become traditions. This will be one of the best ‘Radio Hour Remembers Christmas’ ever.”

The 2015 December Radio Hour will  features the Radio Hour’s studio Band, the Boogie Kings with special vocals by the keyboard genius William Hayes with assists from J. T. Fauber on percussion and Richard Adams’ assorted horns and strings.

Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady, Kevin Chisnell, the Harmonic King, and Brant Fife and join the Boogie Kings in a wide range of music favorites from the Blues to the Holiday Classics.

Marsha Howard declares she has found a new source of humor and has gathered jokes to make “the holiday bright.”  Her worthy companion is Barbara Lawson whose storytelling has been recognized by the Virginia Commission for the Arts as one of its touring artists.

David Young, (aka Duffy, the singing cobbler), shares Christmas in Cleveland, a story that will touch all who remember wanting that special Christmas present with every ounce of their being.

The River City Players will provide a preview of a new musical by Boomie Pedersen and Richard Adams.  A Blue Ridge version of the classic redemption of Scrooge , Christmas in Fox Hollow was commissioned through a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and is likely to become a holiday tradition.

Tickets are available at the WTA office at 533 West Main or by calling 540-943-9999.  Tickets which include the performance and dessert and beverage are $16 preshow and $20 on the day of performance.
