richmond-squirrelsThe Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are pleased to announce a three-year extension to their partnership with IHeartMedia, Inc.  The extension will keep fox Sports 910 Richmond as the radio home of the Flying Squirrels through the 2017 season.

fox Sports 910 Richmond will broadcast each of the Flying Squirrels’ 142 Eastern League games during the 2015-2017 seasons, as well as any potential postseason games the team participates in.  The Flying Squirrels’ radio home remains consistent, as fox Sports 910 Richmond has been the flagship station of the Flying Squirrels since their inception in 2010.  All Flying Squirrels’ broadcasts will also be heard worldwide on www.foxsportsrichmond.com and IHeartRadio.

Jon Laaser “The Voice of the Flying Squirrels,” will return for a sixth season in the lead broadcast chair.  Laaser will provide play-by-play for all Flying Squirrels’ broadcasts.  Laaser will be joined by Jay Burnham, who returns to the Flying Squirrels’ booth for a third season, and will provide play-by-play and analysis during broadcasts of home games.  Burnham will also anchor the 30-minute “Flying Squirrels Pregame Warmup” and 30-minute “Flying Squirrels Postgame Wrap.”

“We are elated to continue this relationship with one of our foundational partners in Richmond,” said Flying Squirrels’ Vice President & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell.  “We have tremendous pride in the quality of our broadcasts, and fox Sports 910 Richmond has unfailingly provided us the resources and assistance to maintain that level of quality.”

Game broadcasts are at the core of the partnership, but the extension also represents the expansion of a diverse cross-promotional relationship between the Flying Squirrels and IHeartMedia, Inc.  Flying Squirrels’ players and staff will continue to have a presence on IHeartMedia stations and platforms, while IHeartMedia personalities will remain a constant at Flying Squirrels’ games and events.  That includes 1140 WRVA host Jimmy Barrett, who has served as “The Voice of The Diamond” since 2010.

“We are thrilled to renew our partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels and continue to broadcast Flying Squirrels Baseball to the RVA on Fox Sports 910 and across the nation with IHeartRadio and www.foxsportsrichmond.com” said fox Sports 910 Richmond Program Director Aaron Trimmer.
