Reported robbery in Staunton was faked: Man charged

policecar3The Staunton Police Department investigated a reported robbery that occurred on July 1, 2014 at the intersection of Garber Street and Drury Street, in the City of Staunton.  It was reported that two unknown males robbed a subject at knife point and took $284 in cash.

During the course of the investigation, investigators determined that the robbery had never occurred and that the victim had fabricated the incident. James D. Deyo, 32 of Staunton was charged with filing a false police report on July 8, 2014.
