Registration under way for safeTALK

afsp2Valley Community Services Board and Lock & Talk Virginia present safeTALK, a suicide alertness class for community members, on Friday, July 8, in Staunton.

safeTALK is a 3 1/2 hour training program that prepares helpers to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first-air resources. Most people with thoughts of suicide, either directly or indirectly, invite help to stay safe. Alert helpers know how to identify and work with these opportunities to help protect life. Powerful videos illustrate both non-alert and alert responses. Discussion and practice stimulate learning.

safeTALK is offered at no cost to participants due to the support of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. Space is limited. Participants must be a minimum of 15 years old.

Registration is required. Email Rebecca Textor at [email protected]. Provide your last name, email address and preferred phone number.
