road-work-headerRoute 39 Alternate (Main Street) in the town of Goshen in Rockbridge County will be closed Tuesday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 15. This closure is for a railroad crossing replacement between Route 39 (Maury River Road) and Route 42 (Virginia Avenue). Home and business owners will be able to access their properties by approaching from the appropriate side of the work zone.

Vehicles less than 11 feet 10 inches in height will be directed on the following detours:

  • Westbound traffic on Route 39 will turn right to remain on Route 39 and then left onto Route 39/42 (Virginia Avenue).
  • Eastbound traffic on Route 39/42 (Virginia Avenue) will turn right onto Route 39 and then left to remain on Route 39.

Vehicles exceeding 11 feet 10 inches in height will be unable to use the detour route because of a low overpass. Motorists operating these vehicles will need to seek an alternate route.

Route 39 Alternate is scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. All work is weather permitting.
