How to prepare for a flight: Eight basic steps

newspaperYou have probably been to a lot of adventures. Nonetheless, flights to a different city or country may talk a bit more to get ready. A lot of things should be taken into consideration, many things should be thought over in advance. Our friends from cheapfirstclass.com (who also can help you get the best business class flights at highly discounted rates for an international flight!) revealed eight simple steps to get yourself prepared for a flight. These tips are suitable for both short and overnight flights.

  1. Research your destination and make some plans. You would probably need some information about the place you are going to visit. Make decisions on how you are going to get a hotel if you booked one; find out what kind of weather is forecasted for the period of your stay etc. If you’re flying on a low-cost air carrier, read up on what to expect.
  2. Prepare a list of stuff to pack. To avoid forgetting a bunch of necessary supplements or clothing, make sure to have a list of them in advance. It will make packing much easier and will save your money (for instance, you will need socks anyway, so you will have to buy it). Try to exclude unnecessary things.
  3. 3. Make sure all your stuff can be carried by plane. Do a quick look through your luggage, and check if you do not have anything prohibited. Anything that you might question about, you need to look up. You don’t want to commit an international crime by mistake. Be careful with medications!
  4. Have your passport, IDs, and tickets ready. For domestic air travel, all adult passengers must present some form of government-issued photo identification. A valid driver’s license or passport will work. If you are heading to Europe or Asia, you need a valid international passport. Do not forget about travel insurance! One can never know what is going to happen next.
  5. Check out your refrigerator. If you have a short business trip and will be back in a day or two, you should not worry. However, if you will be out for a week, make sure that you have nothing that will get bad in your fridge. It may not be a kind of terrifying issue bit the smell will stay literally forever.
  6. Check out entertainment options and meals offered by the airline in advance. You have to stay in the plane for several hours. Therefore, you will have to entertain yourself and will obviously get hungry. Do yourself a favor and look up to what is offered by the carrier. You might need to pick something to eat and read or listen to e.g. iPod.
  7. Think about your finances. Do not leave home without several money options, including credit and/or debit cards, an ATM card and cash. While some travelers prefer to carry traveler’s checks and get a small amount of local currency ahead of time, you may get the best exchange rate via an ATM machine in the country.
  8. Ask someone to look after your house. Criminals are everywhere! Ask someone to come and check if everything is okay with your place at least two times while you are out. You will thank yourself for that later. Do not forget to check out if all the electronics are off!
