virginia techFor those interested in futuristic agriculture Virginia Tech will host a Precision Agriculture Day on Oct. 12 at Kentland Farm.

Participants will have the opportunity to get answers to common questions about the benefits of precision agriculture and learn how they can establish cost-effective technologies on their farms. The event will start at 9 a.m. and run until 4:30 p.m.

Precision agriculture includes technology that helps increase yields and help with management decisions. Topics for the day include technology for smaller farms, precision ag equipment for hilly terrain, and low-cost technologies.

Hoober Inc., James River Equipment, Meade Tractor and Southern States Cooperative will provide equipment demonstrations, and Virginia Tech’s Department of Mechanical Engineering will present a drone demonstration.
