Poll: Obama continues to lead in Virginia

A new Public Policy Polling survey of Virginia voters has Democrat Barack Obama holding on to a three-point lead over Republican Mitt Romney heading into the 2012 campaign’s final days.

Obama had the support of 49 percent of Virginia voters surveyed, to 46 percent supporting Romney.

The poll was conducted for Health Care for America Now.

The candidates were tied among independents at 44 percent each. Obama enjoyed more support among women (56 percent-39 percent), African-American voters (86 percent-11 percent) and voters under 45 (53 percent-41 percent). Romney’s support was stronger among male voters (56 percent-40 percent), white voters (56 percent-39 percent) and seniors (52 percent-45 percent).
