Police: Threat at Waynesboro High School a hoax

waynesboroThe Waynesboro Police Department has determined that a threat left on a bathroom stall at Waynesboro High School this week is a hoax.

The PD is still investigating the origin of threatening language that was left on a men’s room bathroom stall at WHS.  Waynesboro Public School staff is assisting the Police Department in the investigation.

On Wednesday, a faculty member alerted school administration and the school resource officer about a message that had been found in a men’s room.  The message indicated a threat against the high school, but no specific person.

As part of investigation, officers have reviewed the school surveillance footage and interviewed several individuals.  Also, K-9 teams designated for the detection of explosives were utilized do a thorough search of the campus.   No threatening substances or devices were located.

The seven K-9 teams from the Virginia State Police and Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office were in Richmond conducting monthly training and came in their training group to conduct the search.
