Orioles rally, defeat Tampa Bay, 4-2

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesA Jimmy Paredes RBI double tied things up, and an Adam Jones two-run single put the Orioles ahead to stay in a 4-2 Baltimore victory at Tampa Bay on Sunday.

The O’s trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the seventh. Travis Snider led the inning off with a single, but Caleb Joseph struck out and Everth Cabrera flew out. Manny Machado worked a two-out walk off Tampa reliever Steve Geltz, who was lifted for Kevin Jespen.

Paredes doubled to left to score pinch-runner David Lough with the tying run, and Jones singled to center to score Machado and Paredes with the go-ahead runs.

Darren O’Day and Zach Britton shut things down from there, allowing just one Rays baserunner, on a ninth-inning walk, in putting up two scoreless innings, with Britton earning his sixth save.

Tommy Hunter (1-1) got the win in relief, putting up a scoreless seventh in advance of the rally.

Starter Wei-Yin Chin gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings, striking out four and walking two.

Jones had four hits in four at bats to raise his batting average to .402.
