odu logoSamaritan’s Feet International announced that Jeff Jones, head men’s basketball Coach for Old Dominion University, has been selected for the 2015 Barefoot Coach of the Year. Jones was presented with the award at the Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast on Saturday, April 4 at the Indiana Convention Center. Jones has coached a game barefoot for the past seven basketball seasons as head coach at both Old Dominion University and American University.

Coach Jones has demonstrated the fives pillars of being a barefoot coach: giving a voice to the voiceless, creating awareness for Samaritan’s Feet, providing shoes to impoverished children (both domestically and internationally), enhancing the image for coaches, schools, athletes, and the NCAA through your courageous efforts, and providing multiple opportunities to engage people in a life of service.

“Coach Jones has accomplished so much for Samaritan’s Feet all while demonstrating a humble spirit – a combination that is rarely found,” Manny Ohonme, president and founder of Samaritan’s Feet, said. “He has sent ripples throughout the world and it is my honor to recognize him as our 2015 Barefoot Coach.”

The Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast now stands as one of the premier events during the NCAA Final Four weekend. Previous Barefoot Coaches of the Year include: Saul Phillips (2014), John Calipari (2013),
Scott Nagy (2012), Brad Stevens (2011), William Knopf (2010) and Ron Hunter (2009).

About Samaritan’s Feet International: Samaritan’s Feet is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization that shares a message of hope and love through washing the feet of impoverished children around the world and adorning them with new shoes. There are an estimated 1.2 billion children who go without shoes every day and more than one million that die each year from foot borne diseases. Since its founding by Manny Ohonme in 2003, Samaritan’s Feet and its team of ambassadors and partners have blessed more than five million children in more than 70 nations.
