waynesboro ymca trish lagruaTrish LaGrua, the newest personal trainer at the Waynesboro YMCA, came to the fitness world from the unlikeliest of directions.

LaGrua, a certified personal fitness trainer since 2007, worked for 11 years as a licensed clinical social worker after graduating from Fordham University in 1993 with a master’s degree in social work. Her commitment to fitness dates to her teen years.

“I started out working out in my home gym at 14,” said LaGrua, who is certified in TRX suspension training, spinning, zumba, sh’bam and is a 200-hour E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) working on her 500-hour program.

LaGrua lives in Augusta County with her husband and three very active boys. Along with exercise, she enjoys the beach, gardening, reading, singing, dancing, her dog and most of all, spending time with her friends and family.

As a personal trainer at the Waynesboro Y, she focuses on strength training, core stabilization, balance, weight loss, functional fitness, and overall health, including mind, body and spirit.
