Neil T. Kester to announce run for Augusta County Sheriff May 19

augusta-county2editsAugusta County native Neil T. Kester will announce his entry into the 2015 race for Augusta County Sheriff on May 19 at 6pm on the steps of the Augusta County Government Center in Verona. Kester’s announcement is open to the public and the press.

Kester brings a 23 year law enforcement career to the campaign. He started out in public service as a line officer for the Verona Volunteer Fire Department in 1990. He became a reserve police officer with the Staunton Police Department in 1992 and then a full-time officer on the force in 1995. In 2000, Neil began a career with the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries and is currently a Senior Conservation Officer. Neil is also a hunter education, boating safety, driving, ATV and criminal justice instructor.

Says Kester, “My agenda is to make the Sheriff’s Office a more efficient, approachable and community-involved agency.  We will do this together by having open dialogue within our agency and especially from the citizens that we serve. This approach will not only make our Sheriff’s Office a better place to work, but will also instill confidence from our community members as they will be able to see first-hand the ethical and professional leadership at work!”
