The Nats beat up Giants ace and World Series hero Madison Bumgarner in a 9-3 Washington win on Saturday, but it wasn’t all good news at Nationals Park.
Stephen Strasburg left the game in the fourth inning with what manager Matt Williams said afterward was tightness in his left side.
Williams said Strasburg, who had been sailing along on Saturday, giving up a hit and striking out three in three and two-thirds scoreless innings, will be evaluated on Sunday.
Tanner Roark (4-3, 4.33 ERA) got the win in relief, giving up two runs on five hits in four and a third innings, striking out three without issuing a walk.
The Nationals touched up Bumgarner (8-5, 3.34 ERA) early, with three in the first on a solo homer by Michael Taylor and a two-run shot by Bryce Harper, his 25th homer of the season.
Harper and Tyler Moore each had three hits on the day for Washington, and Moore had four RBI.
Bumgarner six runs on eight hits in five-plus innings of work, striking out four and walking one.
The Nats (45-36) have a four-game lead in the National League East.
