MLB postseason filled with former Squirrels

richmond flying squirrelsThe Major League Baseball Postseason will see plenty of representation from Richmond and the Flying Squirrels organization.

Initial postseason roster projections have as many as 18 former Flying Squirrels players on five different teams playing through October. The Giants of course, will carry the majority of former Squirrels players for their Wild Card matchup against the Mets on Wednesday in New York. The Giants are back in the playoffs for the fourth time in seven seasons.  Boston (Heath Hembree), Cleveland (Dan Otero), and Los Angeles (Charlie Culberson) should all carry at least one former Richmond standout.  Other area notables include Red Sox outfielder and Richmond-area native Jackie Bradley Jr.

“There’s nothing like October baseball in America, especially when our hometown affiliate is playing with a roster chock full of guys who thrived while wearing a Squirrels uniform,” said Squirrels VP & Coo Todd “Parney” Parnell.
