MLB: O’s win, Nats drop second straight to Phils

Chris Tillman allowed two hits in six and two-thirds scoreless innings in a 3-1 Baltimore win over Tampa on Wednesday.

Tillman (2-1, 3.24 ERA) struck out nine and walked two.

Zach Britton gave up a run on two hits in a shaky ninth, but eventually closed things out to record his fifth save.

Joey Rickard hit a three-run homer in the fifth, his second dinger of the season.

Baltimore (12-8) had just three hits on the night against Tampa Bay pitching.

 

washington nationalsNats lose second straight at home to Phils

Jeremy Hellickson and two Philadelphia relievers held the Nats to two hits in a 3-0 win Wednesday night.

The Phils (11-10) have won two straight at Nationals Park this week and three straight against the NL East leaders overall.

The Nationals (14-6) got a nice outing from Gio Gonzalez (1-1. 1.42 ERA) in defeat. Gonzalez allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits in six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.

Hellickson (2-1, 3.81 ERA) was just better, striking out eight and walking three while allowing two hits in seven innings of work.
