terry mcauliffeGovernor Terry McAuliffe released the following statement today after the Senate of Virginia voted to pass SB49 and SB715, which together will significantly strengthen Virginia’s gun safety laws by taking guns away from domestic abusers and expanding access to background checks at gun shows:

“Today the Senate of Virginia overwhelmingly advanced bills that will be the first meaningful steps forward on gun safety legislation in our Commonwealth in 23 years. These bills will make Virginia safer by taking guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and significantly expanding access to background checks at gun shows. I look forward to continuing to work with the General Assembly to finalize this agreement and take additional steps to make our communities safer.”
