Marketing minute: Does Facebook work for small business anymore?

Contributors

AFPnewIt used to be relatively easy to market your business on Facebook. You started a business Facebook page, got people to like it, posted updates to the page about your business, people saw them, and you got sales.

We at Augusta Free Press, in particular, miss those days. We put money (lots of money!) into developing a Facebook presence with more than 100,000 fans, and now that Facebook is throttling posts to limit the number of people who can see them without us paying for ads, well, we wish we had a time machine that would take us back to the time that we started spending money on Facebook likes campaigns, let’s put it that way.

Going forward, the question of the day is, does Facebook even work for your business anymore?

It can, but you have to be smart about it. We will offer tips on being smart about it in an upcoming business marketing class offered through Augusta Free Press.

The topics covered will include:

  • Is Facebook still something that I can use to boost my business?
  • If I spend money on Facebook ads, how much is enough, and how do I best spend it?
  • How can I get Twitter to work for my business?
  • What other social media platforms can work to boost sales?

Class Schedule: Wednesday, May 13, noon-1 p.m.

Augusta Free Press will cover these topics in depth in our Social Media Marketing After Facebook class.

Classes are offered at Panera Bread in Waynesboro.
