Lynchburg District Weekly Traffic Alert: April 23-27

Highway work in the Lynchburg District requiring road/lane/structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting. Items in italics contain new/updated information. For up-to-date information, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.

Amherst County:

Route 29 Business – Madison Heights, project to replace median barrier. Lane closures will occur. Use caution. Estimated completion – April 2019.

Route 29 Business at Route 130- Crew will replace back plates on signals.

Route 151 (601- county line) – Shoulder widening & rumble strip project through October 28.

Route 610: Crews will eradicate pavement markings in advance of surface treatment.

Routes 643, 663, 689, and 690: Contractor crews will be performing surface treatment work at various location. Delays likely.

Route 663 – Tree cutting through mid-April will create extended delays. Flaggers will assist motorists.

Surface treatment – Contractor crews will be performing work at various location. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Appomattox County:

Route 460 – Crews will maintain/repair pavement messages.

Plant mix treatment – Beginning April 9, contractor crews will be working at various location. Delays likely.

Buckingham County:

Route 15/636 intersection – Temporary lane closures during drilling operations.

Route 633 (Andersonville AHQ) – Crew will work shoulders.

Route 644 & 662 (Andersonville AHQ) – Crew will work on Rural Rustic projects.

Route 1001 and 1003: Crews will eradicate pavement markings in advance of surface treatment.

Various – Crews will cut brush, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Campbell County:

Route 24 @ 646 – Construction of roundabout has started.

Route 460 Business – Crews will maintain/repair pavement messages.

Route 696 over Flat Creek (944-709) – Closed for bridge replacement 5/14 thru 7/20/18. Detour via Routes 24, 692, and 709 back to 696.

Surface treatment and plant mix- Contractor crews will be performing work on Routes 605, 612, 635,672, 732, 786, 901, and 925. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will boom axe, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Charlotte County:

Route 604 – Crew will trim trees.

Route 604 and 675: Crews will eradicate pavement markings in advance of surface treatment.

Route 695 over Cub Creek (617 – 727) – Closed thru 5/25 for bridge replacement. Detour via 617, 40 and 727 back to 695.

Route 698, Phenix AHQ – Rural Rustic project underway.

Various – Crews will boom axe, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Cumberland County:

Routes 626, 632, 633, 650, 652, 668, 670 and 724: Contractor crews will be performing surface treatment work at various location. Delays likely.

Route 667 – Crew working Rural Rustic project.

Various – Crew will work surfaces, cut brush and respond to customer concerns.

Halifax County:

Route 58 W over Lawson Creek (501-931) – Lane closure, 11’6” width restriction for bridge work. Est. comp. 5/2018.

Route 670 over Buffalo Creek – Road closed from 639-637 for bridge replacement. Detour via 639 to 638 and 637 back to 670. Estimated completion – June 22.

Town of Halifax – Crew will sweep streets.

Plant mix treatment – Beginning April 9, contractor crews will be working at various location. Delays likely.

Bethel AHQ – Crew will straighten signs.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crew will boom axe on primary routes.

Volens AHQ – Crew will cut right of way.

Various–Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer requests.

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. & Odd Fellows Rd., Phase 1)– Vehicles entering/exiting road. Temporary lane closures on 460 & Odd Fellows. Est. comp. 8/3/18. Speed – 45 mph.

Liberty Mtn Dr – Ramp to 460 E closed for roundabout project.

Odd Fellows Road –1-way traffic from Perkins St. to Bradley Dr. to widen road for new interchange. 3-month detour in place for northbound traffic (to Mayflower Dr.).

Odd Fellows and Mayflower intersection –Intersection closed to traffic from March 20 through June 20. Detours in place.

Odd Fellows to US 29 Expressway – Phase II – Project started. Bridge over RR will be closed for approximately 1 yr – date to be announced.

Nelson County:

Plant mix treatment – Contractor crews will be working on Routes 634, 661, 655, 666, 800 and 1001. Delays likely.

Surface treatment – Contractor crews will be working on Routes 636, 643, 764, 861, 1420 and 1421. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Pittsylvania County:

Route 29 Chatham Bypass – Contractor working on northbound median shoulder. Lane closure.

Route 29 North (Route 1080 to 40) – Contractor crew will perform plant mix operations. Alternating lane closures in use. Message boards in place.

Route 644, Rondo AHQ – Crew will install pipe on Rural Rustic project.

Routes 686(two sites) and 802– Temporary lane closures during drilling operations beginning April 30.

Kentuck AHQ – Crew will work shoulders and prune trees.

Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.

Prince Edward County:

Route 360 – Crew will perform sign maintenance.

Route 604 – Crew will work on curve straightening project near Route 666.

Route 622- Crews will eradicate pavement markings in advance of surface treatment.

Route 691 – Crew will prepare for Rural Rustic project.

Plant mix treatment – Beginning April 9, contractor crews will be working at various location. Delays likely.

Various – Crew will cut brush, remove debris, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

District-wide activities:

Bridge maintenance – Crews will perform maintenance on bridges.

Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance.

Line painting/pavement marking – Crews will address work orders/requests as weather/schedule permit.

Pipe rehabilitation – Crews will rehab/replace pipe at various locations.
