Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: March 14-18

Amherst County:  

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic control/flaggers in use. Expect delays. End: 4/21/17.   

Various – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations.

 

Appomattox County:  

Route 610 over Stonewall Creek (Rt.  609 – Rt. 670) – Road closed 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. 3/14-3/16 for drilling operations. Detour via 609 to 611and 670.

 

Buckingham County:    

Route 20 over Slate River – Speed reduced to 45 mph. during bridge replacement/construction of approaches. Estimated completion – December 2017.

Andersonville AHQ – Crews will make shoulder repairs..

Various –Crews will boom axe, make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Campbell County:  

Route 643 over Falling River – Traffic control in use. Expect delays. Est. comp. 6/10/16.

Route 651 over Bear Creek (Rt. 604-615) – Road closed 3/21 – 6/10/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 606, 615 and back to 651.

Route 696 over Troublesome Creek (Rt.  709 – Rt. 693) – Road closed 8:30 a.m. -2:45 p.m. 3/16-3/18 for drilling operations. Detour via 709 to 692 and 693.

Route 701 over Hills Creek (696-699)  – Road closed thru 4/29/16.  Detour via Rte. 696 and 699.

 

Charlotte County:   

Route 15, Keysville area– Line eradication will take place soon in advance of surface work.

Route 638 over Little Cub Creek – Road closed Jan. 4 through April 8 for structure replacement. Detour in place using Routes 630, 629, and 628.

Route 695 over Cub Creek (Rt.  727 – Rt. 617) – Road closed 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. 3/14-3/18 for drilling operations. Detour via 727 to 40 and 617.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, work shoulders, brush cut/boom axe and respond to customer requests.

 

Cumberland County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush and respond to customer requests.

 

Halifax County:  

Routes 40, Stovall area– Line eradication will take place soon in advance of surface work.

Route 691 over Tobey Creek(Rt 659/658 intersection) – Closed thru April 1 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 659, 662 and 659.

Bethel AHQ – Crews will clean ditches and repair shoulders.  

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

Volens AHQ – Crews will install driveway pipe.

 

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460 (501-29)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Use caution.

 

Nelson County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Pittsylvania County:  

Route 29 N over Norfolk-Southern Rail –Restricted to one lane south of Rt. 801.

Rt. 58 over Sandy Creek – One lane closed for repairs.

Route 628 over Straightstone Creek (Rt. 900-937) –Closed 2/29 – 6/3/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 640, 900 and back to 628.

Route 666 over Elkhorn Creek (Rt.  640 – Rt. 680) – Road closed 8:30 a.m. -2:45 p.m. 3/14-3/16 for drilling operations. Detour via 640 to 686 and 680

Route 726 – Construction underway. Signs/traffic control devices in place. Est.comp-4/29/16. 

Route 1428 over Cattle Pass (Int. 57) –Closed 3/14 – 3/25/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 57

Brosville AHQ – Crews will ditch. 

Gretna and Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean debris. 

Kentuck AHQ – Crews will repair mailboxes.

Kentuck and  Mt. Airy AHQ  – Crews will work shoulders.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will clean pipe and boom axe.

Various – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations.

Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County:  

Route 632 over Bush River – Road closed for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 633, 15, 647and 630. Route 632 will be closed between the intersection of Route 633 and Route 630.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush, work pipe and drainage structures, and respond to customer requests.

 

District-wide activities: 

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance. 

Bridge-mounted signs – Foundation work underway. Traffic control devices will assist motorists.

Pavement markings – Contractors will begin eradication of pavement markings in coming weeks in anticipation of latex schedule on primary routes. Caution is urged.
