Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: June 25-29

Amherst County:

Route 29 – Crew will paint and retrace markings.

Route 29 & 29 Bus– Shoulder widening/rumble strips/guardrail upgrades. Lane closures likely.

Route 29 Bus, Madison Hts –Replace median barrier. Lane closures. Est. comp. – April 2019.

Route 151 (601- county line) – Shoulder widening & rumble strip project through October 28.

Route 163 (city limits – Route 1025) – Tree removal will require changes in traffic pattern and make create delays.

Appomattox County:

Route 460 E, Appomattox Bypass –Left lane closure with 11’ travel lane and concrete barrier in place during project including overlay; expect delays. Est. comp. Fall 2018

Route 460 – Crew will work pavement markings.

Route 600 over Crane Creek (627-460) – Road closed 6/18-7/13 for superstructure replacement. Detour via Routes 627, 601, and 460 back to 600.

Surface treatment –Work at various locations will create likely delays.

Buckingham County:

Route 15 Business – Crew will work on signs.

Route 20 (Rt. 15- James River Bridge, Albemarle) – Pavement widening, rumble strips, guardrail replacement/upgrades & paving through summer. Flaggers/pilot vehicles in use.

Route 633 (665-639) – Closed through 6/29 for repairs.

Route 633, Andersonville AHQ – Crew will work shoulders.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crew will work Rural Rustic projects.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer concerns.

Campbell County:

Route 24 @ 646 – Construction of roundabout & other improvements. Truck traffic over 44 ft restricted. Signage and traffic control in place.

Route 696 over Flat Creek (944-709) – Closed for bridge replacement thru late July. Detour via Routes 24, 692, and 709 back to 696.

Route 737 over tributary Falling River (651-656) – Road closed 7/23-9/7/2018 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 651, 24 and 656.

Surface treatment and plant mix- Contractors will perform work on various routes. Delays likely.

Charlotte County:

Route 604, Phenix AHQ – Shoulder work.

Route 608, Craftons Gate AHQ – Crews will work on safety project.

Various – Crews will boom axe, mow, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Cumberland County:

Surface treatment operations: Contractor crews will be performing surface treatment work at various location. Delays likely on Routes 667, 703 & 737.

Various – Crew will mow, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Halifax County:

Routes 40 & 59 – Crew will maintain and repair pavement messages.

Route 58 E over Dan River – Epoxy overlay applied. Expect delays.

Route 58 W at Lawson Creek (501-931) – Lane closure, 11’6” width restriction for bridge work.

Routes 58 and 360 – Crews will replace back plates on signals.

Route 670 over Buffalo Creek – Road closed from 639-637 for bridge replacement. Detour via 639 to 638 and 637 back to 670. Estimated completion – June 22.

Bethel AHQ – Crew will install driveway pipe and work drainage issues.

Plant Mix and Surface treatment – Contractor will perform operations at various locations. Lane closures and delays possible.

Various–Crews will mow and respond to customer requests.

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. & Odd Fellows Rd., Phase 1) – Widening road for new interchange. New roundabout in place. Sidewalk and shared use path work underway. Est. comp. 8/3/18. Speed – 45 mph.

Liberty Mtn Dr – Ramp to 460 E closed for roundabout project.

Odd Fellows to US 29 Exp. –Completing paving, entrances, and utility work associated with road construction. Temporary lane closures may occur. Bridge over RR will be closed for approximately 1 yr – date to be determined.

University Blvd –Road closure, signed detour until mid-August for roundabout construction.

Nelson County:

Route 29 – Crew will paint and retrace marking and work signs.

Route 630 – Crew will maintain and repair pavement messages.

Plant mix & surface treatment –Working on various routes will likely result in delays.

Pittsylvania County:

Route 29 and 40, Gretna AHQ – Crew will cut around signs. Delays possible.

Routes 637, Gretna AHQ, and 644, Rondo AHQ –Work on Rural Rustic projects.

Route 639 over Cooper Creek (at Rt 633 intersections) – Road closed 7/30-10/19 for bridge replacement. Detour via Route 633.

Route 655 (729 – 734) – Road closed 6/11- 8/3 for bridge superstructure replacement. Detour via 1299, 58 and 734.

Route 666 over Elkhorn Creek (1051-680) – Road closed 7/23-10/12/2018 for bridge replacement. Detour via Routes 680, 686, and 640.

Route 800 over Bearskin Creek (750-799) – Road closed 7/30-9/7/2018 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 750, 649, and 799.

Kentuck AHQ – Crew will boom axe and work unpaved shoulders.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crew will boom axe, cut around signs and work non-surface roads.

Gretna and Rondo AHQs – Crews will work surfaces.

Plant Mix and Surface treatment – Lane closures and delays possible during operations at various locations.

Various –Crews will mow and respond to customers.

Prince Edward County:

Route 460 W –Milling/paving overnight from bypass toward Prospect. Est. comp. summer 2018.

Route 460 – Crew will work pavement markings.

Route 460 at Route 626 – Crew will work on flashers.

Route 691 – Crew will prepare for Rural Rustic project.

Various – Crew will mow, cut brush, remove debris, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

District-wide activities:

Bridge maintenance – Crews will perform maintenance on bridges.

Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance.

Line painting/pavement marking – Crews will address work orders/requests.

Pavement marking – Contractor will work on pavement markings at various locations.
