Rotary clubs in the Staunton-Augusta region will help a clinic in Pointe-à-Raquette, Haiti, purchase a boat for the purpose of transporting patients needing emergency care to either medical facilities on the other side of the island of la Gonâve, where Pointe-à-Raquette is located, or on Haiti’s mainland.
District Governor Chris Runion of Rotary District 7570 will award the Rotary Clubs of Staunton and Staunton-Augusta with a $6,000 District Grant at an award ceremony to take place at a joint meeting of the two clubs on Tuesday.
Staunton Rotary and Staunton Augusta Rotary will partner with the Haiti Outreach Committee at St. Francis Church in Staunton, and will benefit the generally very poor residents of the area around Pointeà-Raquette, Haiti who experience medical emergencies and need care beyond that which can be offered at the medical clinic in Pointe-à-Raquette operated by St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. Leaders from the partnering committee will be present for the award ceremony.
