Leadership Harrisonburg-Rockingham is accepting applications from prospective community leaders for its upcoming 2011-12 class.

The program, formerly called the Community Leadership Program (CLP), is designed to develop tomorrow’s leaders through a series of sessions on all economic and social facets of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County interspersed with leadership skills training. There are nine monthly sessions from September to May, covering topics such as: Public Safety, Education, Non-Profits, Community Development, Local Government and Legislative Affairs and Arts and Entertainment. Team building, leadership and workplace communications are key components of the program. Each session is held at a different location, increasing the overall experience of class participants.

Leadership Harrisonburg-Rockingham is overseen by CLP alumni and administered by the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce. Each class is selected based on the candidates’ education and work experience, community involvement and community demographics. CLP was formed in 1979 and has produced 830 graduates, many in key business, government and community leadership positions today.

For more information and an application, contact the Chamber at 434-3862 or go online at www.hrchamber.org/leadershipHR or email [email protected].
