600px-I-64Overnight closures are scheduled tonight and next week at the Interstate 64 interchange at exit 91 (Route 285/Tinkling Spring Road) in Augusta County near Fishersville. These closures will allow contractors to perform milling and paving of the eastbound off- and on-ramps and the westbound off-ramp.

From 6 p.m. tonight (Friday, October 9) until 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, the I-64 eastbound right lane will be closed from about mile marker 90 to 92. The I-64 eastbound off-ramp to Route 285 will also be closed. Drivers can access Route 285 by detouring north on I-81 to exit 222, then following Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) east back to Route 285.

From 6 p.m. Thursday, October 15, until 7 a.m. Friday, October 16, the I-64 eastbound right lane will be closed from about mile marker 90 to 92. The I-64 eastbound on-ramp from Route 285 will also be closed. Drivers can access I-64 eastbound by continuing south on Route 285, turning east on Route 631 (Ladd Road) and north on Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway) back to the interstate.

From 6 p.m. Friday, October 16, until 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, the I-64 westbound right lane will be closed from about mile marker 92 to 90. The I-64 westbound off-ramp to Route 285 will also be closed. Drivers can access Route 285 by continuing west to I-81 northbound, taking exit 222 and following Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) east back to Route 285.

All work is weather permitting.

These lane and ramp closures are part of the reconstruction of exit 91 at Route 285 near Fishersville. When contractors finish the project, the road will have four lanes between Route 636/640 and Route 935. A new bridge over I-64 will accommodate the additional through lanes and dual left-turn lanes at both on-ramps. Additional turn lanes at the Route 636/640 intersection will handle traffic from the nearby hospital complex. Route 285 will have a shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded Shirley Contracting of Lorton, Va., a $21 million design-build contract in September 2012. The company is performing the work in three phases, starting with construction of the new bridge over I-64 and widening the roadway to the west side of Route 285.
