Kyle Guy earns NABC All-America third-team honors

kyle guy uva basketballVirginia sophomore guard Kyle Guy (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America Third Team, announced Wednesday (March 21).

Guy, who was named All-ACC First Team and ACC Tournament MVP, averaged a team-high 14.1 points for the Cavaliers (31-3). Guy averaged 16.7 points as UVA captured its third ACC Tournament title. Guy reached double-figures in 28 games, including a career-high 29 against VCU, and led Virginia in scoring in 15 contests. Guy added 83 3-pointers and shot 82.4 percent from the free throw line.

Guy is the 10th Virginia player to earn All-America honors, joining Malcolm Brogdon (2015-16), Justin Anderson (2016), Mike Scott (2012), Sean Singletary (2007), Ralph Sampson (1980-83), Jeff Lamp (1980-81), Barry Parkhill (1972-73), Buzzy Wilkinson (1955) and William Strickling (1915).

Joining Guy on the NABC All-America third team are Joel Berry II (North Carolina), Mikal Bridges (Villanova), Jevon Carter (West Virginia) and Keenan Evans (Texas Tech).

Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Marvin Bagley III (Duke), Deandre Ayton (Arizona), Devonte Graham (Kansas) and Trae Young (Oklahoma) were named to the NABC All-America first team.

Keita Bates-Diop (Ohio State), Trevon Bluiett (Xavier), Miles Bridges (Michigan State), Carson Edwards (Purdue) and Jock Landale (Saint Mary’s) were named to the NABC All-America second team.
