kaine new2U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on Senate passage of The Veterans’ Access to Care through Choice, Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014, legislation he introduced this week with U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders, John McCain, Jeff Merkley, and Richard Burr to improve veterans’ access to health care and address serious problems facing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

“I’m very proud of the swift action we took today to pass legislation that will provide veterans with the medical care they have earned,” said Kaine. “I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues to introduce this bill because Congress has a responsibility to ensure the Va has the resources needed to deliver timely, high-quality care – a need that was underscored by troubling reports this week of long wait times at Va centers in Virginia and across the nation. Senate passage of this bill is an important step toward addressing these longstanding problems.”
