Juried show: Interiors & Still Lifes exhibit at the Beverley Street Studio School

mom_s_inkwell by Susan RosenBeverley Street Studio School’s annual juried show, Interiors & Still Lifes will feature 20 2D artists from across the state of Virginia.

Many different mediums will be represented. Including: oil, acrylic, photography, pencil, charcoal, mixed media, pen, wax, and soft pastels. Exhibition opens Friday, September 18 in the Beverley Street Studio School Gallery at 22 West Beverley Street, Staunton. The opening is from 5:30 – 7:30pm with awards ceremony and brief introduction by juror, Phillip Geiger starting the evening at 5:30pm. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Sunday, November 8.

Exhibiting artists are as follows: Lyndi Angermeier-Carr, Deborah Baird, Deliece Blanchard, Virginia Deane, Karyn Dingledine, Kim Hall, Amelia Herring, Julia Lesnichy, Katharine March, Colquitt Meacham, Keith Minnion, Joan Huiner-Ranzini, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Susan Crave Rosen, Karen Siegrist, Virginia Thompson, Christine Tucker, Astrid Tuttle, Christine Watts, & Bill White.

The show was juried by Phillip Geiger, a noted painterly realist, often painting figures in interiors. He has been an art professor at the University of Virginia for over 30 years, earning his BFA from Washington University and went on to complete his MFA at Yale University. He has exhibited widely and has been the recipient of numerous art grants and awards. He shows at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in NYC and his paintings are represented in several prominent public collections and have been reviewed by the New York Times, Art in America, ARTnews, and The New Criterion.

BSSS gallery shows are attended by art enthusiasts, local art buyers, professionals interested in the visual arts, and visitors from the surrounding colleges and universities. Exhibiting and attending these shows is a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with nationally known faculty and artists within our thriving local art community and beyond.
