JMU women pummel Rhode Island

Four Dukes scored in double figures as James Madison easily beat Rhode Island 77-42 in women’s basketball Friday night at Lehigh’s Stabler Arena.

The Dukes improved their record to 8-3, while Rhode Island dropped to 1-13 with its 11th straight defeat.

JMU redshirt junior guard Jasmine Gill (Greensboro, N.C./Page) led all players with 18 points, junior guard Tarik Hislop (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) added 13, sophomore guard Kirby Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) scored 12 and redshirt senior forward Lauren Whitehurst (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) 10.

The game was part of the Lehigh Christmas City Classic.

The Rams’ top scorers were sophomore forward Emilie Cloutier with 15 and junior guard Ashley Rivera with 12.
