economic-forecast-headerGovernor Terry McAuliffe is announcing the winners of the first-ever Virginia Velocity Business Plan Competition that will provide $850,000 to four businesses in the bioscience or energy sectors that are looking to expand their businesses in Virginia.

The final round and presentation of winners will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse, Center Stage, 600 E. Grace St. All media attending will need to check in at the registration desk. Media unable to attend the entire event are encouraged to arrive by 3:20 p.m. to hear the announcement of the winners. A media availability will follow with opportunities for interviews with Gov. McAuliffe and the winners.

The final four companies that will be competing are:
Autonomous Marine Systems Inc. (Somerville, MA)
ConnectDER LLC. (Falls Church, VA)
ivWatch LLC (Williamsburg, VA)
Personalized Cancer Therapy Inc. (Mclean, VA)

The Virginia Velocity business plan competition is part of Gov. McAuliffe’s strategy for building a new Virginia economy. Virginia Velocity accepted 39 applications in July from entrepreneurs seeking next-level funding to expand their bioscience or energy business. A panel of more than 40 judges reviewed the applications and narrowed the pool down to 10 semi-finalists, five in bioscience and five in energy. The final awardees will include winners from both the bioscience and energy fields.
