policeThe Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a suspicious message that was communicated to Waynesboro High School around mid-day Friday.

After receiving the information, school administrators notified the Police Department and evacuated students and staff to another location near the campus.  Officers were in place with the students and staff for their safety.

A cursory sweep of the building was done and no threats were located.  Four bomb sniffing dogs from the Virginia State Police responded to do a more thorough search of the campus.  The campus was deemed safe for occupancy at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Vance with the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6798 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
