Front Royal shuts down Waynesboro, wins 4-0

generals-front-royal3Josh Shepley and three Front Royal relievers held Waynesboro to three hits in a 4-0 Cardinals win Saturday night.

Shepley (1-1. 0.79 ERA) took a no-hitter into the seventh, before Kevin Phillips got the Generals into the hit column with a leadoff single.

Shepley went six and two-thirds innings, giving up just the one hit, striking out three and walking two.

Vince Braman (1-2. 4.09 ERA) took the loss for Waynesboro, giving up three runs on seven hits in seven innings of work, striking out five and walking one.

Phillips was the lone bright spot on offense for the Generals, going 2-for-4 at the plate.
