French musicians bring musette to Charlottesville, Staunton

Paris Sépia, a charming Franco-American couple from Charlottesville’s Sister City, Besançon, will be playing old time “musette” – French music from the 1930s – today and tomorrow in Charlottesville and Staunton.

Susan Severson (accordion and voice) and Jean-Paul Barbier (banjo and voice) have performed throughout Europe, in Russia and in the U.S. Their show includes explaining the origins of French “musette” and actually playing the songs.

Virginia is one stop on their fourth U.S. tour that has included Los Angeles, Chicago and Asheville.
