dukeDuke redshirt sophomore linebacker Tinashe Bere will miss the remainder of the 2016 season after undergoing surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee.  He suffered the injury in Saturday’s 38-35 win over Notre Dame.

Dr. Claude T. Moorman III, Duke’s head team physician and the director of Duke Sports Science Institute, administered the operation.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bere compiled 13 total tackles through four games this season including a season-high five in last week’s victory at Notre Dame.

In 2015, Bere was an honorable mention Freshman All-America pick and Academic All-ACC choice after posting 58 tackles including 4.5 stops for lost yardage as Duke went 8-5 with a 44-41 overtime win over Indiana in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.  In 15 career games, Bere has amassed 71 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and two quarterback pressures.

The Blue Devils will host Virginia on Saturday at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.  Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m., and tickets may be purchased online at www.GoDuke.com/FootballTix or by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-2583.
