Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alerts: June 8-12

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(NEW) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Nighttime lane closures for pipe replacement across southbound Route 29 at the Route 250 Bypass interchange. Right lane will be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Motorists should be alert for detour signs as they approach the work zone.

(NEW) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Asphalt placement across northbound Route 29 at the Route 250 Bypass interchange. The two left lanes will be closed Thursday and the two right lanes will be closed Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Pipe installation in the median between Angus Road and Hydraulic Road. Intermittent left-turn lane and crossover closures will occur Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Southbound ramp to Route 250 east will be narrowed Monday through Friday for excavation work. Motorists should use caution through the work zone and be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Contractor is digging test holes to locate underground utilities on Route 29 between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.  The northbound right lane will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Alternating northbound and southbound lane closures in the vicinity of Rio Road for work related to the relocation of underground utilities between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The northbound right lane will be closed Monday through Wednesday night from Rio Road north approximately 500 feet. On Thursday and Friday the southbound right lane will be closed from Rio Road to Berkmar Drive. Motorists should slow down and be alert for signs advising of the lane closures as they approach the work zone.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures between Hydraulic Road and Airport Road in both directions Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

 

Albemarle County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Westbound lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for asphalt repairs. Right lane closed Sunday, June 7 and left lane closed Monday at mile marker 114 just before the bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Right lane closed Tuesday at mile marker 110 just after the bridge over Mechum River. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. During this time, left lanes closures may occur in both directions between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is July 2015.

(UPDATE) Route 250 (Richmond Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Lane closures may occur near Route 682 (Gillums Ridge Road) Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection, then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

  • Routes 618, 622, 626, 627, 631, 643, 649, 715, 760, 2500 – Mowing.
  • Routes 635, 679, 810 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 640, 660 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 713 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Town of Culpeper

(UPDATE) Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening along the north side of Route 3 between Route 788 (Lignum Road) and Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). No lane closures or traffic impacts are anticipated. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Traffic signal work on Monday will cause signals to go dark between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. During this time, traffic will be directed by uniformed police officers. Motorists should be alert and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(NEW) Route 631 (Muddy Run Lane) – Drainage pipe installation from Route 229 (Rixeyville Road) to the end of state maintenance. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Route 655 (Somerville Road) – Drainage pipe installation between Route 689 (Cedar Run Road) and Route 652 (Mitchell Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

  • Routes 225, 610, 619, 620,  624, 626, 627, 640, 646, 647, 648, 649, 652, 663, 676, 677, 680, 683, 685, 688, 692, 701, 721, 730,  732, 733, 735, 743, 762, 1091, 1092  – Mowing.
  • Routes 617, 623, 624, 626, 628, 629, 630, 647, 655, 661, 692, 693, 710, 723, 729 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 621, 634, 663, 666, 669 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 676 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 1.

  • Routes 616, 643, 668, 672, 689, 691, 743, 752, 758, 772, 795, 879 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 628, 643, 670, 725 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 628, 645, 673, 681, 688, 694, 727, 734, 735, 736, 737 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 637 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 725, 735, 808 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 53, 616 – Trimming.
  • Routes 609, 624, 635, 637, 643, 669, 675, 761, 773, 1020 – Mowing.
  • Route 630, 631 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 607, 609, 610, 616, 618, 619, 645, 670 – Mowing.
  • Routes 633, 810, 1022 – Pavement patching.

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 600, 613, 615, 621, 627, 628, 669, 686 – Mowing.
  • Routes 660, 689, 694 – Pavement patching.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 613, 644, 661– Pipe installation/repair.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Drainage pipe installation near Route 721 (Barnetts Ford Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Tuesday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Expect minor delays.

  • Route 15 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Route 33 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 20, 231, 654, 655, 679, 732 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 602, 603, 611, 614, 621, 640, 667, 682, 685, 692, 695, 698, 708, 709, 711, 716, 741, 762, 770, 780, 1050, 1060, 1061, 1062, 1120, 1121, 1151, 1152, 1153 – Mowing.
  • Routes 603, 652, 662, 681, 684, 685, 692 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. Traffic reduced to one lane Tuesday through Thursday, controlled by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.

  • Routes 231, 522, 604, 626, 707, 729 – Mowing.
  • Routes 600, 603, 607, 626, 627, 681 – Machining of gravel roads.
