road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Contractor is performing excavation work near the ramp and grading in the median.

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. intermittent left-turn lane closures will occur on Route 29 at the Route 250 Bypass.
  • Sunday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., southbound Route 29 outside lane and ramp to westbound Route 250 Bypass closed for storm drain installation.

(UPDATE) Route 29 widening – Contractor is digging test holes to locate underground utilities on Route 29 between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.

  • On Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 9 p.m. 6 a.m. the southbound right lane will be closed just south of Towncenter Drive.
  • On Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the southbound right lane will be closed just south of Towncenter Drive.

(UPDATE) Rio Road grade-separated intersection – Utility relocation work will occur in the vicinity of the Rio Road intersection.

  • Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the right lane on Route 29 southbound will be closed at Rio Road.
  • Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the Route 29 northbound right-turn lane will be closed at the entrance to Albemarle Square Shopping Center.
  • Motorists should be alert for work along the Route 29 southbound shoulder and in the southbound right lane Wednesday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. near the Goodwill store entrance.

(NEW) Berkmar Drive – Sunday and Wednesday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., paving work will be done on Berkmar Drive between West Rio Road and Route 29. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and changes in the traffic pattern. Traffic through the work zone will be controlled and brief delays are likely.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Deck resurfacing of I-64 bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Alternating eastbound lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion Nov. 5.

(NEW) Route 20 (Scottsville Road/Stony Point Road) – Paving and lane striping at the following locations. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

  • From just north of Route 6 (Irish Road) to Route 708 (Red Hill Road) between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • From 0.2 mile north of Route 250 (Richmond Road) to just south of Route 621 (Wolf Trap Road) overnight between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Bridge is open to traffic. Intermittent lane closures may occur as final work items are completed. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 653 (Old Free Union Road) – Surface treatment from Route 601 (Free Union Road) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 660 (Reas Ford Road) – Surface treatment from Route 743 (Earlysville Road) to Route 661 (Reas Ford Lane). Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 671 (Millington Road) – Drainage pipe replacement under the roadway. From 9 a.m. Tuesday to 3:30 p.m.Wednesday, the road will be closed just north of Route 614 (Garth Road). Motorists should use Route 810 (Browns Gap Turnpike) and Route 674 (Clark Road) as detour route.

(NEW) Route 671 (Millington Road) – Surface treatment from Route 665 (Millington Road) to Route 614 (Garth Road). Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection,then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

(NEW) Route 679 (Grassmere Road) – Surface treatment from Route 738 (Morgantown Road) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 839 (Whippoorwill Road) – Surface treatment from Route 676 (Owensville Road) to Route 614 (Garth Road). Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 1150 (Mill Creek Drive) – Milling of the roadway. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Thursday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 1315 (Commonwealth Drive) – Milling of the roadway. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging Saturday, July 25from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 1547 (Homestead Farm Road) – Surface treatment from Route 601 (Free Union Road) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 1561 (Graemont Lane) – Surface treatment from Route 661 (Reas Ford Lane) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Routes 1734, 1735, 1736, 1740, 1742, 1743, 1749, 1752, 1753 (Various routes in the Forest Lakes South subdivision) – Milling of curb and gutters. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Obey traffic controls.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 6 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 614, 631, 634, 635, 637, 672, 673, 674, 729, 732, 810 – Mowing.
  • Routes 636, 637, 660, 676, 692 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 674, 697, 699, 718, 722, 728, 767, 805 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Town of Culpeper

(NEW) Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Finishing work at roundabout project. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening from Route 788 (Lignum Road) to Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). Motorists should be alert for workers near the travel lanes and trucks entering and exiting the highway.

(UPDATE) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Paving and line painting. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane from Route 648 (Cedar Ridge Road) to approximately 0.1 mile south of Route 657 (General Winder Road). Traffic will be controlled by flagging and pilot truck.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing along the median and shoulders. Rolling lane closures may be needed Mondaythrough Friday during daytime hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 655 (Somerville Road) – Grading and placing stone from Route 689 (Cedar Run Road) to Route 652 (Mitchell Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 522, 651, 683, 729 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 605, 608, 661, 662, 647, 652, 655, 663, 675, 676, 680, 688, 689, 723, 736, 739, 750 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 608, 619, 621, 624, 650, 692, 749 – Mowing.
  • Routes 617, 621 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Route 663, 666, 676, 716 – Pavement patching.

 

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Repairs to Route 723 (Ashville Road) bridge over I-66. Alternating westbound lane closures will occur Sunday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Interstate 66 – Bridge washing at various locations in Fauquier County. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Interstate 66 – Mowing along the median and shoulders. Rolling lane closures may be needed Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing along the median and shoulders. Rolling lane closures may be needed Mondaythrough Friday during daytime hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Paving operations from the Culpeper County line to the town of Warrenton. Westbound traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 602 (Rogues Road) – Extension of right-turn lane at Kettle Run High School. Westbound lane closures may be needed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should use caution approaching the work zone and obey all traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 610 (Aquia Road) – Road closed to through traffic from 0.25 mile east of Route 616 (Bristersburg Road) to approximately one mile eastward between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Motorists should use Route 609 (Courthouse Road) as detour route.

Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Road closed at the bridge. Through traffic should follow posted detour signs and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

  • Routes 17, 5630, 736, 767, 770, 798 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.

  • Routes 605, 635, 729 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 610, 729 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 674, 691, 672, 761 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 732, 737, 780 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

Louisa County

(UPDATE) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Line painting from just north of the Sommerfield Business Park entrance to Route 22 (Louisa Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(UPDATE) Route 22 (Davis Highway) – Line painting from the Louisa town limits to Route 522 (Mineral Avenue) in the town of Mineral. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Monday through Friday, intermittent lane closures will occur approximately 0.2 miles east of Route 613 (Oakland Road). Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 639 (Mallorys Ford Road) – Paving and line painting work. Traffic reduced to one lane from Route 620 (Vawter Corner Road) to the Orange County line on Thursday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Flaggers will control traffic.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 602, 640, 642, 649, 745 – Mowing.
  • Route 618 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 610, 620, 624, 669, 674 – Mowing.
  • Routes 611, 617, 643, 647 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 617, 629, 630, 643, 650, 660, 690 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 660, 698, 709, 716 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing along the median and shoulders. Rolling lane closures may be needed Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 622 (Aaron Mountain Road) – Preparatory work for paving of gravel roads. Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the road will be closed from Route 626 (Long Mountain Road) to just east of the intersection. Motorists should use an alternate route.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.
