road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Contractor is installing storm drain structures; installing a new traffic signal at Angus Road; building sidewalks and installing guardrail in the Route 29 median; and widening the ramp. Motorists should be alert for equipment entering and exiting the highway.

–        Sunday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the southbound Route 29 outside lane will be closed from Angus Road to the Route 250 Bypass. The ramp to westbound Route 250 Bypass will be closed with a detour in place for motorists.

–        Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., intermittent left-turn lane closures will occur between Morton Drive and Angus Road.

–        Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the ramp from Barracks Road to eastbound Route 250 Bypass will be narrowed with a right shoulder closure. The westbound Route 250 Bypass outside lane will be closed from Hydraulic Road to Barracks Road.

–        Monday and Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the outside two lanes of Route 29 southbound will be closed from Hydraulic Road to the Route 250 Bypass, with a detour in place for motorists. Angus Road right lane closed. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control while traffic signal is replaced.

–        Wednesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the southbound Route 29 outside lane will be closed from Angus Road to the Route 250 Bypass. The ramp to westbound Route 250 Bypass will be closed with a detour in place for motorists.

–        Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Route 29 southbound right shoulder closed at the Angus Road intersection.

 

(UPDATE) Rio Road grade-separated intersection – Utility relocation work continues in the vicinity of the Rio Road intersection.

–        The following work is scheduled Sunday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Monday through Thursday nights from8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.:

  • Alternating triple lane closures will be in place on northbound Route 29 from Fashion Square Drive to Albemarle Square. Motorists wishing to turn left from Route 29 to Rio Road should use Berkmar Drive as the detour route.
  • Alternating triple lane closures will be in place on southbound Route 29 from Albemarle Square to Fashion Square Drive. Motorists wishing to turn left from Route 29 to Rio Road should use Branchlands Blvd. and Hillsdale Drive as the detour route.
  • A single right-turn lane from Rio Road westbound to Route 29 northbound will be open.

–        From midnight Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Route 29 closed completely at the Rio Road intersection for power line work. Detour in place for motorists.

–        On Thursday from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., Rio Road East will be closed to utility work. Motorists should use Hillsdale Drive and Branchlands Blvd. as the detour route.

 

(UPDATE) Route 29 widening – Median clearing from Polo Grounds Road to Towncenter Drive. The following work on Route 29 is scheduled Sunday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

–        Single alternating lane closures will occur on northbound and southbound Route 29 from Towncenter Drive to Rio Mills Road as necessary for barrier installation. Expect minor delays.

 

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Deck resurfacing of I-64 bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Interstate 64 – Installation of infrastructure and devices for active traffic management system on Afton Mountain. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion Dec. 9.

(NEW) Route 20 (Stony Point Road) – Asphalt crack-sealing from Orange County line to Route 621 (Wolf Trap Road). Mobile work zone moving south during daytime hours. Expect delays.

Route 29 (Monacan Trail Road) – Paving from just north of Route 692 (Plank Road) to Route 760 (Red Hill School Road).Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane. Obey traffic controls.

Route 250 (Richmond Road) – Line painting from 0.3 mile east of the Interstate 64 interchange at Shadwell to the Fluvanna County line. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., mobile lane closures will reduce traffic to one lane. Obey traffic controls.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road) to Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

(UPDATE) Route 784 (Doctors Crossing) – Paving of gravel road. Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., mobile lane closures with flagging will occur.

(UPDATE) Route 854 (Carrsbrook Drive) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Westbound lane closed Wednesday and Thursday approximately 0.3 mile east of Route 29 (Seminole Trail). Flagging will occur.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 231, 600, 640, 1191 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 633, 681, 713, 810, 821 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 633, 634, 736 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 633, 712, 723 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 851/852 – Drainage pipe replacement.

 

 

Culpeper County

(UPDATE) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Roadway widening to four lanes. Clearing, excavation and utility relocation will occur along the route from Stevensburg to Lignum. The lane closures listed below are scheduled outside the rush hour, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should obey the posted 45 mph work zone speed limit signs and be alert for workers near the travel lanes and for trucks entering and exiting the highway.

  • On Monday, the Route 3 westbound lane will be closed from Clover Hill Road to approximately 0.4 mi west of Route 663 (Stevensburg Road). Flagging will occur.
  • On Tuesday, the existing entrance to Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road) will be permanently closed and the new entrance, just west of the intersection, will be opened to traffic.
  • On Wednesday, the Route 3 eastbound lane will be closed from Sandy Springs Lane to Route 739 (Clay Hill Road). Flagging will occur.
  • On Thursday, the Route 3 westbound lane will be closed from Route 739 to Sandy Springs Lane. Flagging will occur.

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Line painting and installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., a mobile work zone will reduce southbound traffic to one lane from Route 663 (Alanthus Road) to Route 676 (Beverly Ford Road/Berry Hill Road).

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Speed limit reduced to 35 mph on Route 666 through the work zone. Motorists should be alert and use caution approaching the intersection. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Line painting and installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., a mobile work zone will reduce eastbound traffic to one lane from Route 621 (Colvin Road) to the Fauquier County line. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 229 (Rixeyville Road) – Milling and paving at the intersection of Route 229 and Route 211 (Lee Highway). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Route 229 right lane and shoulder will be closed. Obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 633 (Norman Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 719 (Mountain Run Lake Road) to Route 522 (Sperryville Pike). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 633 (Hudson Mill Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 644 (Reva Road) to Route 643 (North Merrimac Road). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 3, 20, 522, 666 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 522, 606, 704 – Mowing.
  • Route 617 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 621, 628, 640, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 628, 752 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 680 – Drainage pipe installation.

 

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 – Bridge repairs on I-66 from mile marker 20 to mile marker 35 in both directions. Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures will occur. Expect brief delays.

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Mowing north along the corridor. Mobile lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 15/17/29 (James Madison Highway) – Shoulder repairs. Mobile work zone will close southbound right lane from Route 643 (Meetze Road) to Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Drive) on Monday, 9 to 10 a.m. Watch for slow-moving vehicles.

(UPDATE) Route 15/29 (Lee Highway) – Installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., a mobile work zone will reduce northbound traffic to one lane from Route 605 (Airlie Road) to the Prince William County line.

(UPDATE) Route 17 (Winchester Road) – Installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., a mobile work zone will reduce northbound traffic to one lane from Route 777 (Old Zion Road) to the Interstate 66 interchange.

(NEW) Route 17 (Winchester Road) – Mowing south along the corridor. Mobile lane closures will occur Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 17 (James Madison Highway) – Shoulder repairs. Mobile work zone will close northbound right lane from the Route 17 spur to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) on Monday, noon to 3 p.m. Watch for slow-moving vehicles.

(UPDATE) Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 17 (Winchester Road) to approximately 0.4 mile north of Route 750 (Harrison Road). Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Expect delays.

Primary routes – Line painting. Mobile lane closures will occur on primary and secondary routes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving equipment and only pass where safe and legal.

Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) – Replacing bridge over Thumb Run. Intermittent shoulder and lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anticipated completion July 2016.

(NEW) Route 732 (John Barton Payne Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. On Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the road will be closed to through traffic from Route 681 (Cliff Mills Road) to Route 737 (Conde Road). Northbound traffic will be detoured right onto Route 681, and then left onto Route 780 (Cabin Branch Road), and then left onto Route 737, which carries traffic back to Route 732.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 17, 637 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Route 55 – Mowing.
  • Routes 602, 623, 644, 683, 710, 712, 713, 1124 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 607, 628, 634, 674, 681, 682, 683, 726, 736, 737, 780 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 616, 732, 806 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion summer 2016.

(NEW) Route 714 (Union Church Road) – Paving of gravel road. On Monday and Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., single lane closures with flagging will occur. Obey traffic controls.

Primary routes – Line painting. Mobile lane closures will occur on primary routes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving equipment and only pass where safe and legal.

  • Routes 607, 653, 654, 675, 688, 773 – Mowing.

(NEW) Route 642 (Simms Road) – Paving of gravel road. On Thursday and Friday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., mobile lane closures with flagging will occur. Obey traffic controls.

  • Route 33 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.

 

 

Louisa County

Route 33 (Louisa Road) – Line painting from Route 22 (Louisa Road) to Route 1002 (South Street). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., a mobile work zone will reduce traffic to one lane. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 693 (Kents Mill Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., intermittent lane closures will occur approximately 0.3 mile east of Route 29 (Seminole Trail). Traffic will be controlled by flagging.

Route 699 (Indian Creek Road) – Paving of gravel road. Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., mobile lane closures with flagging will occur. Obey traffic controls.

Primary routes – Line painting. Mobile lane closures will occur on primary routes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving equipment and only pass where safe and legal.

Madison County

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Paving, line striping and installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., mobile lane closures will reduce southbound traffic to one lane at the locations listed below.

  • From Route 662 (Shelby Road) to 1 mile south of Route 230 (Wolftown-Hood Road).
  • From 0.7 mile north of Route 678 (Tibbs Shop Road) to 0.3 mile south of Route 612 (James City Road).
  • From Route 607 (Ridgeview Road) to Route 634 (Washington Street/Oak Park Road).

Route 230 (Wolftown-Hood Road) – Line striping and installing raised pavement markers. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane at the locations listed below.

  • From Route 662 (Shelby Road) to 1 mile south of Route 657 (Thrift Road).
  • From Route 692 (Riverview Lane) to the Greene County line.

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 604, 605, 613, 621, 662, 665 – Mowing.
  • Route 230– Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

 

Orange County

Primary routes – Line painting. Mobile lane closures will occur on primary routes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving equipment and only pass where safe and legal.

(NEW) Route 20 (Constitution Highway) – Mowing from Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway). Mobile lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 20 (Constitution Highway) – Line striping and placing stone along shoulders from Route 741 (Lafayette Drive) to approximately 0.1 mile south of Route 729 (Tannery Road). The work will require mobile lane closures Monday through Saturday between 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

Route 611 (Gold Dale Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 20 (Constitution Highway) to Route 604 (Gold Dale Road). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 20 – Mowing.
  • Routes 642, 1120 – Pipe repair/replacement.
  • Routes 15, 638 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 3 20 522 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.

 

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Guardrail installation from just west of Route 1003 (Sons Road) to approximately 0.3 mile west of Route 612 (Old Hollow Road). Westbound traffic reduced to one lane Wednesday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Obey traffic controls and expect delays.

(UPDATE) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Paving and line striping from Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) to approximately 0.6 mile west of Route 678 (Jordans Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.

  • Routes 600, 604, 605, 615, 616, 618, 681, 707 – Mowing.
  • Routes 610 626 660 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
