Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: May 28-June 1

road work transportationThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

VDOT will suspend most highway work zones and lift lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon Friday, May 25 until noon Tuesday, May 29. For more information, see the news release.

Albemarle County

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Mowing operations in both directions between mile markers 124 and 146. Stay alert for workers near the travel lanes Tuesday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Bridge work in both directions over Route 781 (Sunset Avenue) near mile marker 120. Right lane closed Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Guardrail repairs at mile marker 112. Right shoulder closed Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Tree trimming operations on the entrance and exit ramps to Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) at mile marker 114. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Tuesday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Westbound fence repairs on the exit 121 ramp. Be alert for workers near the travel lane Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Installation of signs between mile markers 124 and 126. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(UPDATE) Route 20 (Scottsville Road) – Bridge work over Hardware River. Expect lane closures Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Guardrail repairs near the Greene County line. Northbound left lane closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 631 (5th Street) – Installation of sign near Interstate 64. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 654 (Barracks Road) – Construction of sidewalk between Route 601 (Old Garth Road) and Route 656 (Georgetown Road). Expect daily, intermittent lane closures. Anticipated completion June 2018.

(NEW) Route 743 (Earlysville Road) – Pavement patching between Route 606 (Dickerson Road) and Route 660 (Reas Ford Road). Expect lane closures Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Route 743 (Hydraulic Road) – Construction of sidewalk from Route 1315 (Commonwealth Drive) to Route 656 (Georgetown Road). Expect daily, intermittent lane closures. Anticipated completion June 2018.

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Guardrail work at the locations listed below. Expect lane closures Wednesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

· From Route 603 (White Shop Road) to Route 1147 (Sumter Road)

· Route 609 (Hoover Road)

· Route 674 (Kellys Ford Road)

· Route 676 (Berry Hill Road)

· Southbound Route 29 near the exit to Route 522 (Fredericksburg Road)

Fauquier County

(NEW) Interstate 66 – Eastbound bridge deck repairs over Goose Creek. Expect lane closures Tuesday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Rehabilitating bridge over Route 725 (Tuckers Lane). Expect brief, mobile lane closures Tuesday through Friday.

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Vegetation control operations in both directions between mile markers 14 and 37. Expect lane closures Tuesday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

(UPDATE) Route 15/17/29 (James Madison Highway) – Survey and other preliminary design work for the Warrenton Southern Interchange project at Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Drive). Expect intermittent lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

(NEW) Business Route 17 (Winchester Road) – Bridge work over Interstate 66. Expect lane closures in both directions Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

(NEW) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Southbound guardrail work near Route 786 (Okeefe Road). Expect lane closures Tuesday through Friday.

Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 688. Use caution when traveling through work zone, Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route 724 (Pleasant Vale Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 724. Expect intermittent flagging operations Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while crews work underneath the bridge. Use caution approaching work zone and obey traffic controls.

Route 725 (Tuckers Lane) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 725. Expect intermittent flagging operations Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while crews work underneath the bridge. Use caution approaching work zone and obey traffic controls.

Route 731 (Cobbler Mountain Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 731. Expect flagging operations Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews work underneath the bridge. Obey traffic controls.

Greene County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Northbound guardrail work from Route 1120 (Lake Saponi Drive) to Summit Drive. Expect lane closures Tuesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Louisa County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Mowing operations in both directions between mile markers 124 and 146. Stay alert for workers near the travel lanes Tuesday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Installation of signs eastbound near mile marker 136 and westbound near mile marker 137. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Westbound guardrail work near exit 143 to Route 208 (Courthouse Road). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Wednesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

(UPDATE) Various Routes – Bridge deck cleaning on primary and secondary routes. Expect brief, mobile lane closures Tuesday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

Madison County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Guardrail work at the locations listed below. Expect lane closures Wednesday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

· From Route 612 (James City Road) to Route 678 (Tibbs Shop Road)

· Route 634 (Oak Park Road)

· From Route 662 (Shelby Road) to Route 626 (Gibbs Road)

· From Route 647 (Hunter Lane) to Route 607 (Lillards Ford Road)

· Route 9731 (Mountaineer Lane)
