Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: Dec. 12-16

vdot road workThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

Route 29 widening – Travel lanes are narrowed and shoulders are closed between Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) and Route 1719 (Towncenter Drive) and the speed limit is reduced to 40 mph within the work zone. Expect intermittent single lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should remain alert and use caution through the work zone.

(UPDATE) Berkmar Drive Extended – Rio Mills Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursdayand Friday between Route 29 and Millers Cottage Lane while a storm water culvert is installed underneath the roadway. Between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. traffic will be limited to one lane and controlled by flaggers. The residential and business properties on the north end of Rio Mills Road may be accessed from Earlysville Road during the closures. On Towncenter Drive in the vicinity of the roundabout, motorists should be alert for dump trucks and other equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Hillsdale Drive Extended – Obey traffic controls and expect minor delays on Hillsdale Drive, Hydraulic Road, India Road, Zan Road, Greenbrier Drive, Pepsi Place and Seminole Court. For project updates, visithttp://hillsdaledrive.org.

 

Albemarle County

(NEW) Route 742 (Avon Street Extended) – Mobile tree trimming operations from Route 20 (Scottsville Road) to the Charlottesville city limits. Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., expect lane closures.

 

Culpeper County

(UPDATE) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Roadway widening to four lanes from Stevensburg to Lignum. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., stay alert for lane closures from 0.9 mile west of Route 663 (Stevensburg Road) to Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). Traffic will be controlled by flagging. Speed limit reduced to 45 mph in the work zone. Motorists should be alert for workers near the travel lanes and for trucks entering and exiting the highway.

(NEW) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Signal repairs at Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway). Monday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., stay alert for workers near the roadway.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., intermittent lane closures will occur on Route 29 and Route 666. Speed limit reduced to 35 mph on Route 666 and to 50 mph on Route 29 through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (James Monroe Highway) – Restricted crossing U-turn intersection at Route 718 (Mountain Run Lake Road) is open to traffic. Motorists should use caution as traffic adjusts to the new pattern and expect intermittent lane closures while traffic-control devices are removed.

Route 229 (North Main Street) – Roadway widening to four lanes. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., occasional lane closures with flagging will occur through the work zone. Stay alert for workers near the travel lanes and for trucks entering and exiting the highway. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) – Roadway widening in association with the Route 784 (Western Outer Loop/Ira Hoffman Lane) project. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  occasional lane closures with flagging will occur from Route 641 (Gibson Mill Road) to Route 763 (Saint Jameson Road).

(NEW) Route 663 (Stevensburg Road) – Paving operations in association with Route 3 (Germanna Highway) widening project. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., stay alert for lane closures. Traffic will be controlled by flagging. Motorists should expect a rough driving surface until final paving is completed.

Route 685 (Fleetwood Heights Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Flat Run. Road closed to through traffic. Drivers west of the bridge should use Route 663 (Alanthus Road) to Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) and turn left on Route 676 (Beverley Ford Road), which carries traffic back to Route 685. Motorists on the east side of the bridge should reverse the detour. Driveway access will be maintained for local traffic. Anticipated completion Dec. 23.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mobile shoulder repair operations from Warrenton town limits to Culpeper County line. Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., expect mobile westbound lane closures.

(UPDATE) Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Broad Run. Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., road closed to traffic. Northbound motorists will be detoured to Route 17 Business (Winchester Road) to Route 55 (John Marshall Highway), which carries traffic back to Route 245. Southbound traffic on Route 245 will reverse the detour. From Interstate 66, motorists should take exit 28 at Marshall and follow the detour signs.A temporary traffic signal is in place to control two-way traffic through the work zone. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution traveling through the work zone. Anticipated completion April 2017.

(NEW) Route 643 (Meetze Road) – Shoulder repairs from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) north to Route 616 (Beech Road). Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway). Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., motorists can expect intermittent lane closures controlled by flagging. Anticipated completion August 2017.

 

Greene County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Mobile tree trimming operations in both directions from Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to the Madison County line. Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., expect northbound right lane closures. Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., expect southbound right lane closures.

 

Louisa County

Route 33 (Jefferson Highway) – Utility company performing communications cable work from Route 767 (School Bus Road) to the Hanover County line. Shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures with flagging. Use caution when traveling near the work zone.

 

Madison County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Northbound signal work at Route 9731 (Mountaineer Lane), Madison County High School. Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., stay alert for workers near the roadway.

Route 230 (Wolftown-Hood Road) – Rehabilitating the bridge over the Conway River.  A temporary traffic signal is in place to control two-way traffic through the work zone. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., expect lane closures in both directions between the Greene County line and Route 666 (Pea Ridge Road). Motorists should obey traffic controls, use caution traveling through the work zone and expect minor delays. Anticipated completion November 2017.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Intersection improvements at Lake of the Woods. Tuesday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., crossover at Lake of the Woods Way closed. Motorists should use the median crossovers immediately to the east and west of Lake of the Woods Way for U-turns.

(NEW) Route 643 (Cox Mill Road) – Pipe replacement between Route 639 (Madison Run Road) and Route 638 (Mountain Track Road). Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging.
